Exhaust options

Post by APA_telford » Wed Dec 23, 2015 9:50 pm

Most of us know of the mainstream exhaust systems available such as Akra, Milltek.

There are other options Such as Capristo, Tubi.

What are the reasons behind your chosen system? Is it sound? Cost of systems? Brand Name?

Alongside our mainstream systems we offer Capristo & tubi, would you be more likely to choose a milltek, akra over the alternatives?

For cost vs sound vs performance, the only logical choice is a JC Weldfab system.

By the way, there's already a thread on this - search for "exhausts it's time" and you'll find it :)

I went with power flow. A third to half of the cost of the others.

I've had probably 8 power flow exhausts in my lifetime. And now I understand a little more about exhausts, would never have another and would urge others to do the same. Poor quality stainless steel, poorly bent (crush bent not mandrel) restrictive systems. They're not nicknamed poorflow for no reason. Of course, they are cheaper - for a reason.

I'd urge anyone to consider something other than powerflow on a B8 RS4.

Fair enough. It's the first time I have used their product. Looking at the key features above it would be interesting to to know what final gains your car made buddy from just the exhaust and what the price was or is going to be once JCWF add them to their product range in case I decide to change in the future. Sound is one of those things you have to be there to decide if you like it or not so it would be good at a meet if I could get a passenger ride please. I guess I was quite lucky that I like the sound my car makes now but am always looking to tweak and tinker.

This one: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=115971

And in answer to your question, I went Capristo mainly on build quality and sound. I couldn't see value in the Akrapovich over a Capristo to be honest.
It's all torque talk.

My car is back at JCWF for the last time in a few weeks - we got a before hp figure so I expect an after figure in a few weeks :)

That's cool Ross. I recently replaced my downpipes and pre cats and they are as poorly shaped and bent as the rest of the standard exhaust so will be interesting to see the gains. When I changed my exhaust I had done a few other things at the same time so had no point of reference when it was dyno'd other than the overall gains.
