Super Sport Seats - rear seat entertainment

Does anybody have an OEM solution for this?

I'm loath to ask at my dealership first because they inevitably won't know.

The ideal solution would be a dealer pre-wiring for an ipad along with an OEM cradle for the back of the seat.

I'd settle just for a cradle for the back of the seat and let wires dangle.

Had anybody got any ideas / solutions?

I would like to avoid an aftermarket job where they cut into seats and / or use non-Audi hardware...

Thanks in advance!

I enquired at the dealer about this some time ago, and the Audi versions are basically just iPads with black velcro straps that sit over the seat. The version they do for cars with normal headrests is actually quite neat, but for the RS4, you could make something better yourself in 5 mins with a belt. It looked crap
They will route the wires under the seat from out the carpet, but they still dangle down the back of the seat and, in case of my kids, would last 5 minutes before one of them yanked it out by accident with a clumsy foot.
I've seen some really good instals in other sports cars, where it's cut and set into the seat itself, but it's not cheap

Thanks for your reply, what did you do in the end?

I'm surprised Audi went for velcro (i believe you), in a collision an ipad flying around would be rubbish.

Any further views welcome,!

I decided against it in the end
The straps solution they'd suggested was reasonably stable, and unlikely to end up coming off in the accident unless the car, perhaps, rolled over several times
it just looked particularly shoddy

I would take the ipads off the kids, give them a pad and crayons, and tell them to spot garage signs on the way and draw / colour them, like I did when I was a kid! Brings back memories of those garages that you dont see very often or don't exist any more, like National, Fina, ICI and Agip(?), and all the independents. You also saw garages selling more than one make of fuel! And then there was 2*, 3*,4* and 5* (100 octane!)...... in the good old days...

IMO my boys seem to have too much iPad or TV at home, so i prefer them in the car to look out the window or talk!
there's so much to see.
They only get the iPads in the car if we need to keep them awake.

I agree, but that doesn't work when you're doing an eight hour stint to the south of France!

Mumsnet is a different forum... :0)

All I ever wanted was the opportunity to spend / over engineer a semi necessary accesssory as part of my motoring hobby!

Any further ideas welcome.

As an aside, I cannot think of a better way for my kids to consume their allocation of 'screen time' than when strapped into car seats on a long car journey. With any luck they'll play rugby, do their orienteering, sailing, skiing and practise the violin either at the origin or the destination of the journey. Unless I'm tired, bored or busy in which case they can carry on with screen time!!!! :0)
