New Wheels...Consensus?

Post by RS_Four » Mon Nov 09, 2015 7:21 pm

Seriously considering getting some BBS CH-R's for my Misano red RS4 in satin black but undecided to go all satin black or satin black with steel rim protector... Rationale behind getting steel rim protectors is that my motor has tinted windows with alu-trim surrounds... think rim protectors would complement this.

Another though I had was to go for an all satin anthracite or dark bronze wheel.

Any thoughts/feedback welcome!!

Would look something like this (albeit on a B8 RS4 with alu- window surrounds)

Silver edge breaks up the tyre to wheel lines nicely IMO

I don't like the silver edge on CH-Rs.
And the cost of replacment lips is the same as a wheel refurb anyway so pointless from a save the wheel scenario. I know because my wife has them and when she kerbed the wheel (fairly lightly) both the wheel and protector were damaged. It cost £60 for a new protector (for a 19" wheel) which is the same as it costs to refurbed the wheel effectively doubling the cost of the damage.

Thanks for the thoughts and I hear what you're saying about the cost of replacing the stainless rim protector on CH-R's and if I didn't have alu trim around windows wouldn't consider them, however, I think the stainless wheel protector complements the window surround on pictures below. Also just been looking at the CH-R 2 on BBS website... think the Satin Platinum finish looks great (almost a dark bronze in the pictures) but may be a little 'busy' with all the hex bolts.... first world problems...
