I use all the bilt hamber stuff:

Auto foam
Clay bar
Double speed wax

And as for clothes, its usually Jeans and a T-shirt, although ill put a jumper on in winter. Doesn't have a great impact on the result though tbh....

Not for long, you'll soon fall out with it when you're skint!

Ha ha, true. But you'll have more product for your car than your missus does for her face!

I find the Auto Glym stuff does a good job...and doesn't break the bank. I've realised over time that you can spend way too much on stuff, it's a car FFS no need to buy it the equivalent of Clinique/Kiehls to keep it looking good.!!

AG Stuff I use:

Shampoo
Aquawax (quick clean)
Super Resin
HD wax
Sealant

I'm not into 'detailing', but I like my car to look half decent without getting anal and spending a fortune on products and masses of time. I do a light 'cutting' with AG Super Resin Polish to remove minor swirling, then finish it off with a coating of the ArmoraAll Shield wax. Here's the results, with 'beading' pics on page 2...

Do you mean polish or wax ? ;) sorry couldn't resist

Collinite 476S is a great wax with some Zino sealant over the top. Both sub £20 and will last a long time as a little of this stuff goes a long long way.

Cloths - just regular old micro fibre ones from the £1 Shop as I've tired the mega expensive ones and no better.

As said above - I've spent the £££££ and learned the hard way that a simple routine and a good solid wax/seal will leave a long lasting finish.

Don't forget the elbow grease and a beer to drink while admiring your shiny car

Get on cleanyourcar.co.uk - great place with a good forum for advice

The key is to make sure your washing correctly in the first place. Snowfoam, two bucket method, separate washmitts for wheels and body, etc. Getting the wash right delays the onset of RDS and swirls and lessens the damage washing does. In an ideal world you'd want to be in the position where you can do a complete contactless clean 4 or 5 times before needing to touch the car with anything at all, but you'll need to get the car protected very well before you're at that point.

If you're only working on the car by hand and not machine, then stick with simple products like SRP and HD wax etc. Any more steps than that and you'll be there for days at a time without a machine. It's worth sealing the wheels - do it once every few months (properly - take them off) - then cleaning them takes a few seconds with the pressure washer not a several minutes scrubbing by hand.

If you're not a fan of wax then I highly recommend Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection. Beading is incredible and adds a depth to the paint most cheaper waxes can't match (except Collinite Marque D'Elegance which is exceptional for it's price).

That's the stuff - I rave about it and it's what was on my car at AITP if you saw it there.
