I paid £335 for ceramic disc pads from my local dealer and they're generic across B7/B8 & R8 platforms. I'd be very...very... surprised about him needing new discs - they should last a good 100,000 miles of average driving. My discs are showing about 20-25% wear after 65,000 miles, in fact the pads are the first recorded pad change at 65k. So something seems a little wayward?

If he really does need new discs, then you best sit him down as he won't get much change out of £5300 for the parts alone.

Audi price is £6400 for discs alone
Has he looked at refurbishment companies as there's a few out there that do decent work for a fraction of the cost
What sort of mileage is his car on to wear them out, or has he scored or damaged one ?

You can overheat the pads pretty easily for them to need replacing, but the discs (I hope) should last for years or at least some really decent mileage

Wow...£1100 more for B8 versions.

They're the same dimensions, so quite how they can justify that I'll never know. It makes the brochure option price good value for money!

I did hear that the disc part of the assembly is identical to that supplied on a 911 if you wanted ceramics (same part number), and that Porsche want £10k for a replacement
