Do I??

Hi guys,
not been on here for ages. Wrote my B7 RS4 off in 2012 and couldn't bring myself to get another so I went the E92 route.

I'm now going to move again and have a few options I'm considering and one of which is a B8 RS4. Sounds weird, wife wants me to get a V8 R8, I want a GT-R which she hates but all are in the mix.

What do you think? How have you guys found the B8? Any issues (DRC, Carbon Build Up) I should look out for? Is the gearbox good. What are the modification prospects?

Sorry to ask but any advise would be well received.

Cheers

To be honest, unless you need the space of an estate for kids/dogs/karting stuff around etc I can't think of a single reason why you would pick the B8 over the cars mentioned above and many more. :)

I remember your car shagga, didn't you hit some standing water and aqua plane?
The b8 is worth a look at,I know MRC can do a stage 2 map and G box + 3 stage launch control
Gaz who owns an rs5 on here has had it done, and from what he's said is very happy with the outcome
You need to take one on a long extended test drive, as they take a while to used to them. GTR sounds good though

Correct Riv, I did. Hit a tree.

Thanks for the info guys. I see what your saying about the B8 but thoughts are - R8 (itch a scratch), always wanted one and they still look great. GT-R, fairly practical and performance speaks for itself. B8 - as always understated, classy piece of kit (newer) and I feel like 'I'm 'back' where I want to be.

I'm not great at making decisions on cars and if the GT-R had a German interior I would go for that but they are still very much 'PS4' inside.

Confused.

Hey Shagga

Glad to see you back

V10 R8 FTW

Rock solid residuals. Won't ever dip below £60k as that's where a 2004 60k 5.0 Gallardo starts and in reality a V10 R8 is identical to the LP560 but with better running costs

V8 R8 too slow for you

B8 all seems unnecessary ?

GTR-? Really. Don't get the attraction myself to a chap like you

All the best
DK

There he is. You OK mate? Still using the plasma??
Can't afford a V10 mate. Wife's buying this for my 50th and on a budget :boohoo:

They're the only three cars I really like but properly torn for all sorts of reasons. I do most of the weekend driving so to me that rules the R8 out as there are 3 of us. Interior of the GT-R is very 'Fast & Furious' but performance soon makes you forget that. Boot fits my golf clubs in, 4 seats and quick. RS4 speaks for itself and I never thought I'd like the B8 but it's really grown on me.

Can't you hook me up :beerchug:

I'm not sure the B8 will step the game on enough from the B7 or E92

Try one.

What about the new M4? Or if not too big a Jaguar XFR-S.

Just looked at M4's but too much like what I have.

I'm 50 DK, not 70 so a Jag is out! They are nice though.

LOL

Fair enough

Can't win em all, was trying to think outside the box as I don't think the B8 will be much different to B7/E92

Whereas 5.0 Supercharged 550PS Beast. '15 plate @ £56k vs. £80k list

Based on my recent past, power isn't everything. I like the look of the Jag exterior but not the interior.

I did swerve several times before the tree caught me.

From looking at gaz's thread you can achieve around 465 with the stage 2 MRC treatment, that with the awesome G box
Is not to be sniffed at IMO

To add my tuppence worth ;
If you're looking at R8's, then if you could stretch to a V10, then it's night and day compered to the V8 (Going from the other thread though, a R8's not a very family friendly car)
A GTR's very fast, but not a very nice place to be, and the back seats are practically useless
If you definitely wanted an estate that you can use everyday, then a B8 RS4 I think is the best of the bunch, which I why I bought one
However, if you just want an 'occasional car' with 4 seats, and not fussed about an estate, then there's plenty of good BMW's, Jags and Mercs out there that do the job for the money. Your best bet is to get to a few dealers and have a drive of them to see what you think
The one thing that a B8 RS4 can't offer, is it won't ever scare you. That might be a good thing or a bad thing, but that's really down to you

If you're thinking 2 seats is enough, then have you looked at used F-Types. The S model with the supercharged V8 is a beast and sounds good too.
They have an initial depreciation of a stone, so used ones are a good deal at the moment
Or a 997 Shape Porsche 911 Carrera S ?
