B8 is without doubt the nicer place to sit and do motorway mileage in. However, both my B7's are with Audi right now and I have a B8 to try out; the steering is quite frankly shocking! The on centre feel is worryingly vague that I'm twitching so much, I'm all over the road.

I'm a manual die hard but the steering feel is by far the hardest obstacle to overcome. So much so, that I've disregarded the B8 now as a suitable replacement for my B7's and am looking to Porsche 997.2's as a viable alternatives.

Dk, if you wouldn't mind.

I'd love to know your thoughts on the R8 steering vs B8. I've certainly not had enough seat time in the R8 to judge yet...you on the other hand are over qualified

I've always said the sterring is crap, I put my car in dynamic for everything apart from suspension that's in auto, for me comfort mode is horrid!!
With the lower ride height and adjustable arms mine doesn't feel too bad now tbh

I would rather my b8 to one of those all day long, 997's are ten a penny
I reckon you wound regret selling your b7 for one of those

I gave my B8 back after 3 months - yes it's an awesome place to sit but it feels heavy, is heavy (at nearly 2 tonnes) and as you say the steering is awful. I just couldn't get on with it. Big mistake getting rid of the B7 (with 435bhp). So I test drove the RS3 and it is a great car... Light, balanced, the S Tronic is well suited and steering a lot better, if not perfect. Being turbo it also has tremendous potential for more power .... Did think about a 997 Turbo S but I love the practicality of the RS 's...

B8 is 75kgs heavier than the b7... Given the increase in quality and luxury that's a tony price to pay IMO.

Its a tough call. I am still only now finding the best in my RS5. Yesterday at Bruntingthorpe it shocked quite a few cars. Passing cars I wouldn't have expected to keep up with and even the Porsche GT3 owner look shocked when he only pulled 5 car lengths on me along the straight. It was a great day with stunning weather and its not often that you have a Mclaren blow past you. I was doing around 135, he was doing a lot more :D
