Hi All
Quick update; my best man has only gone and fallen in love; and done what we all did.... gone and bought one!!
I'll let him introduce himself and motor as he sees fit.
It's a quick pointer; there are new cars still out there; deals are still there to be done - expect Circa 10% off still, and 4.x Apr with depo contrib etc on the top.
Martin at Audi City is the most clinical sales guy I have ever met (in a real good zero bs way - not arrogant); I super respect his approach - you want a car; I have a car - lets make it work.I bought mine from him, and he did a good deal over the phone with my mate in one day; he'd be a guy to ring on your list when you are buying audi's - none of this three point selling or otherwise.....
on that note don't talk to me about mini and how they've just ripped my mother in law off "but he was a lovely guy" Coopers in Thames Ditton; never ever buy a car from them. That'll affect Cooper BMW too - I'll never step over their threshold ever!!! ooooh they've made me angry.
Anyway there you go.
B

City still have the Misano car with the red rimmed rotors. It disappeared for a week, but it's back this morning.

I'm beginning to get a bit of a bee in my bonnet about these garages and alleged sales people ! I went to London for four nights to see ac/dc and was staying city centre so went into London City audi my girlfriend liked the yellow TT now whether I was a serious buyer or not I had a good look at the car the grey Rs 3 and even the misano 4 I spent a good half hour in there with my partner and wasn't approached by anyone in sales even though we were the only people in there ! I was casually dressed in boss clothes but it seems unapproachable or a time waster in there minds and in the same attire the gentlan I spoke to in hartods was more than happy to let me try on two £38,000 watches ! I wish I had read your post when I was in London and had your salesmans name to thank him for his assistance I'm going of this brand very quickly solely because of people like him !

When I bought my RS4 last month, the dealer made a loss on the car. There's deals to be had if you time them right and have an ounce of negotiating ability in you.

Did he show you his P&L? If not, I call BS. Sorry but thats just usual sales blarney. I mean, i guess it could happen but it the chances are so infinitely small, i highly doubt it.
When I was ordering my 7 i was told by at least 3 dealers that the level of discount id been offered was unheard of, and the largest they have ever given, they can't all be right

Yes he did. I got a 16% discount on list. (And only told me about the loss AFTER the sale was done).
Loss made on the car to meet quarter targets (and my deal was conditional on me signing before end of quarter).
Kickback from Audi UK and Audi finance makes it profitable for the dealer.

LOL. Sorry but don't be so naive!
Dealers have more than 14% in new RS 4's let alone the finance commission and even if it got dire Audi UK would support it

Loss on front end invoice price yes, but that is perfectly normal for most cars at the end of the model life
The invoice discount is typically 5-8%

Im naive for the dealer, finance manager and salesman liying to my face (if you're right). Fair enough. How stupid I feel.
Edit - it was 16% I miscalculated. Apologies.

Its a very well co-ordinated and well rehearsed dance designed to free you from your cash and make you feel good about it while doing so.
Bottom line, you got the car you wanted and you got a cracking deal. The psycho babble "loss", "unheard of deal", "your kids are so cute", "where do you work out pal" comments are just lines to build the relationship and increase the chances you go back.

I did 12% on an S3 the other day and made a four figure loss front end, after finance commission. At 16% they're not even going to claw that back end, genuinely seems like a great deal IMO. There could/would have been various other benefits to them selling it, which I really won't bore you with.
