Has anyone here investigated the cost/possibility of a space-saver for the B8?

I noticed at the weekend that the area/well seems to be big enough for one, so after coming from a C7 where I had to use one once (a blow out on the M25 fully loaded with my family in the car), i'd be happier if I could have one in the B8 rather than the stupid tyre-weld that will be useless in most situations.

Do they come in other A4s? My C7 had a 20" profile so I do know there are possible tyre options available if there's a wheel.

My b8 s4 had a space saver in the boot. I was quite surprised to find that my rs4 didn't. The dealer even tried to fob me off buy saying the rs4 had run flats so didn't need one

Did the original B8 A4s have the battery in the spare wheel well or did that start with the B8.5?

I'm guessing the front brakes are going to be the problem.

My 62' plate B8.5 A4 had a space saver spare wheel. I was surprised as well when I saw it was missing...

If your spare doesn't fit over the front brakes and you get a puncture on the front you can move the good rear tyre to the front and use the spare for the rear. Not ideal but a solution. Pretty sure there are spares that will fit the front though as I know a B7 owners on here carry a spare and their brakes must be a similar size to the B8.

Was it a Quattro?

My spare wheel well is full of sub enclosure and pump etc so no space for a space saver, space saver won;t go over front disks anyway.

Not yet used it, we'll see what happens when I need to use the tyre weld and pump.

I can confidently advise you that the tyre weld and pump will only work on simple slow punctures, such as a nail or screw in the centre of the tread. I've had three seperate tyre failures on my RS4 each time being sidewalls. I can assure you that you are just blowing £20+ into and back out of the tyre again with those kind of failures - partly due to the very low profile and large UK potholes.......

I wish a space saver were an option - have invesgiated and given up on the basis of size/fit and the lack of space with the subwoofer and battery in the rear boot well.

Hopefully you won't have a need to use the tyre weld!

Why don't you put a spacesaver in the boot, not the bit under the cover, but just laying down in main part of the boot in a bag? Takes up a little space but if I had 3 punctures on the same car I'd have one in the boot.
And I've alreayd told you how to get around the issue of not fitting over the front discs.

Got a full size spare wheel and tyre at home.

Good for potential kerb rash situations and in case of puncture gives me a quick swap option if I can make it home with goo and pump. Or, if I can't make it home ... Ring ever helpful number 1 son. If along way from home: ring number one son and choose between threats and promises of oodles of pocket money .....

Having a spare just wallowing around the boot is possible but takes up a &$@* load of space in a not so cavernous boot

I'm hoping all my punctures are those frustrating but endurable nails/screws that are slow leaks that are short term ok as long as you don't remove it whilst "on the road". Other than that, revert back to number 1 son.

Not sure what to do when number one son leaves home .....

But he'll probably offer to just swap cars
