Hi All

A major family event has led to my silence!! (not birth - the other end..) So my beautiful RS4 became just a tool to do a job - i.e. A-B

So I'm back now and have had time to reflect; I took it out for a proper drive today aswell...

Folks - what a motor; it just DOES, i.e. DOES - runs, carries, gives insane pleasure - it just does eh?

tel you what does my head in - iPhone/Smartphone music; it's a total distraction - so I'm gonna have to move to SDCards (any ideas how to get my iTunes library there?) - also it's a shame that you can't keep these things new; but I have to remind myself I bought it to do a job. Daddy Cool; and I tell you what it certainly ticks that box.

Moving onto it; I think that long stints stress the brakes; and the gearbox is amazing, but shocking!!! (like how it holds gears!!! WOW) I spend a lot of time going D/S - I Guess I'll relax. What has happened is I've begun to process all the information it gives you; screens; systems; etc and it has become natural.

Also after 2500mls; I reckon the package is opening up? maybe even getting noisier?

An amazing choice; the RS6 would have sent me over the man logic spend levels; and frankly this car is at the moment leaving me wanting for absolutely nothing else.

What a wicked wicked machine.

(Don't bother with the Autoglym thingy; it's crap - next job SMDetailing)

Hooorooo!

B!

I find if I have to spend a day driving the wife's car, my car feels incredible again
It's amazing how >20k miles a year in my RS makes it feel normal until you step away for day
My co's got an event on this weekend, so I'm trawling around in a rental transit for 4 days, so my RS is going to feel awesome on Monday
Sorry to hear about your loss BTW

Sorry to hear the news.

Get an iPod (I have a 160gb 6 yr old one and it works fine)......proper control by MMI. I have a spare cable you can have if you want it.

As Graeme says driving another car for a day makes it feel new again. Drove my Wife's GTD to Cambridge a back on Tuesday, it's quick but not that quick......check the mpg and range after a £55 fill up!! (Has a small fuel tank)

Thanks All!! And thanks for the offer carsarecool - I may take you up on that!!; question - how do you think Apple Music is going to complicate our lives?

Also as a complete fact - the Golf GTD is a wicked wicked machine; I've done a lot of Nurburgring - including Scuderia Hanseat; and in all sorts of things....

...But I took a mate out (I was passenger); to you know pretend I know the track a bit and offer some advice - the torque is really useful on the ring; and I probably had the biggest heart stopping moment on there; I think it was Fuchsrohe - it's the bit where you "straighten" some fairly small corners to form one straight (in the forest bit); going flat out down hill - relying on the compression that you get as you bottom out and come back up the hill to give you enough strength in the brakes and tyres to rid the speed for the corner at the top of the hill.

Suffice to say I said - go flat out!!!, and forgot to say - DON'T lift off!!! (until going up the hill); that little golf picked up its feet and shot off like a bee looking for hive; unfortunately my buddy just started to let off; GTD went light; by then luckily back on the power; and the GTD just sucked it up, went straight and off we went.

One of those heart stopping moments; which we survived!! - I like GTD's; probably one of the funnest laps I've ever had! If you've got a GTD I'd call that car a keeper.
