Post by Simon82 » Wed Mar 18, 2015 11:02 am

Have you tried the usual Camskill.co.uk or blackcircles.com as they're normally well stocked up ?
FWIW, if you are thinking of changing all tyres rather than just one, Michelins PS2's are a worthwhile change

My tyres are showing stock on them and so I have passed it on to Audi. Problem is I stupidly opted for the tyre insurance and so I'm trying to make use of that. I was assured it would cover the cost of 5 tyres in 3 years, what he neglected to mention was that it was only up to £250 and Audi want £400 so I've had to jump through hoops to get this far and now they say they can't get a tyre. Think I'll end up asking for policy to be refunded as its not why I was sold and then I would sort it myself by going for michelins as they are my tyre of choice anyway! Never been a fan of Pirelli and this saga isn't doing anything to change my mind about them

This Audi tyre insurance seems a load of crap,
if Audi sell you the insurance to cover tyres for an RS4, surely it should cover you for the tyres that Audi put on the vehicle!

How much have you paid and would you be in pocket if you got them to change all 4 tyres ?

If not I'd get a refund on the policy and get a tyre else where.
Good luck

I am going to push for a refund and if they agree I'll just bite the bullet and get shot of the pirelli's.
It's not been a good experience dealing with glasgow Audi I have to say, very dissapointed.

If you get the refund, will you get Glasgow Audi to fit new tyres?
If yes, ask them what tyres they have in stock, get a cheeper quote for the tyres and ask them to price match.

If they refund (which I very much doubt they will) I won't be going back to glasgow Audi for anything if I can help it.

I don't want to :piss: on Glasgow Audi's pricing structure but a quick visit to the Audi website and a quote for a 265/30R20Y Pirelli Pzero is £288 each. As far as I'm aware that's the price for all Audi centre's.

Here is a link

I'd be having a few words me thinks :bash:

Best thing I did was to get shot of the Pirellis after a torn side wall
I swapped out for ps2's it's night and day better now

I have suggested to them if they will replace my damaged tyre with a Michelin then I will replace the other three to match and sell on my remaining pirelli's which I think is a reasonable solution so will see what they say to that tomorrow. If they refuse that then I'm definitely escalating things further as this has been the icing on the cake.

you dont need to go to audi for a new tyre just source one yourself and pay then claim back the cost its very simple
i had a chunk taken from the sidewall on one of my tyres i think audi wanted 400ish to supply and fit but as you have found out its llmited to 250 per claim,i went to kwickfit and managed to get one fitted for 258 so it cost me 8 and the insurance paid up within 7 days and as i paid by ccard it worked out well for me,read the t+c for the policy
dont know were you are but i still have the tyre as i kept it to use if i got another puncture and couldnt source a new one straight away,im in essex your welcome to it for 25 quid if your in essex the chunk hardly notices and if i didnt have insurance i would not have bothered changing it :beerchug:

Once you've agreed they will replace for a Michelin and they are getting it all sorted and you move on to discuss the other three Michelin's. As you are purchasing yourself, get them to price match Tyre Leader or similar. They have a price match scheme so should not be a problem. Do not pay their RRP prices.

As an update I have indeed now got them to agree to change damaged tyre for a ps2 and I have managed to source 3 of the same from cam skill for £179 a tyre. Audi wouldn't match it as they were not a known tyre fitter within 15 miles of the dealer and to be fair I can get them fitted for free through a friend so probably the best option in the end.
Took a bit of moaning and running around but got there in the end I guess!
On that note I'll have 3 pirelli's with less than 1k miles on them up for sale shortly... :D
