B8 RS4 options and standard equipment

Post by marc1 » Sun Mar 08, 2015 8:29 pm

Do all B8 RS4's have the sports diff as standard or was it a standalone option or part of a package? I know DRC was an option, was it also part of a package (sports)? And where any ADS features standard or did you have to spec dynamic steering or dampers to get it (assuming the diff is optional)?

Anyone driven a DRC car vs. Standard suspension and what were your thoughts? I know steering has been covered a few times and remains subjective. I for one like the dynamic steering in a mates RS and on S4's I've driven. Not driven as RS without, but an S4 felt a bit loose without it, but didn't have any ADS features.

The sports diff, ads and damper were all standard.

Not driven a none sport suspension car but I'm guessing the main thing is whether u can live with the extra stiffness more than anything else. It's like you said, it's a subjective thing.

The configurator is no longer up but the brochure can still be viewed from the site

There's very little difference between the general ride of the std suspension and the comfort setting on the dynamic suspension
The only real difference I could feel was the std car dived a lot more into braking and there was a hit more body roll
The dynamic setting on the optional suspension, in my opinion, is way too hard anyway, and I very rarely use it
However, others like the dynamic setting, it's just a bit too hard for my liking

I would agree with this. On the unpredictable bumpy UK A/B roads it can sometimes make the car feel a bit skittish. However, on a smooth road it really does make the car feel uber planted.

Having the ability to shift between settings and create your own individual ride/power/sound, is IMO a must on the B8.

Cheers guys. I think I would prefer a DRC car as I don't like body roll, but I know even in the B8 it has its faults. I suppose time will tell whether there are failures like the C5 and B7's or whether it's all just sensor related.
