The RS4 is dead?
The RS4 is dead?
Ok, so order book shut, B9 is in the ether right now & my car is 3 in October...... So alternatives are a reality for me right now. Ideally I want an estate, so the M3 is out. I think the RS6 & E63 are too big for central London, which leaves me knocking at the door of the C63s, unless I am mistaken.
Graeme seems to think I'm an old fudger for liking it, but having spec'd a car up (£81k!!!!) it's got some interesting things going on. Annoyingly the configurator isn't too detailed, so some of the info on items that are options is non existent (genius). But (omitting the red detail that is included in the Edition 1 I ticked), I think this looks quite nice:
To add, the Monkey Harris film details the tunability of the C63s as being pretty awesome..... Just saying.

Re: The RS4 is dead?
I think that model looks good, I would have one
Re: The RS4 is dead?
Is an RS6 too big for Central London considering all the S class, Range Rovers, Cayennes, etc rolling around. I think it would fit right in. Given the C63 is already £81K to your spec. The RS6 must at least deserve a look.
Those CGI images look good. I dont mind the red. Sorry me showing my age again

Re: The RS4 is dead?
After seeing those pics, I'm (very) slowly warming to it, but £81k puts it right in RS6 territory, and that's a no brainer
Be interesting to see dimension comparison as c63 was always a little bit bigger than an rs4, so perhaps not much in it

Re: The RS4 is dead?
Most of those are school runners, I actually use my car daily all over town & have to rely on parking spaces rather than permit bays. When you do it that way day in day out, it does make a difference. One person parks like a twonk (daily occurrence) in the bays and that makes parking an RS4 difficult, especially if you are wanting to avoid dinks....miatang wrote:Is an RS6 too big for Central London considering all the S class, Range Rovers, Cayennes, etc rolling around. Would a RS3, Golf R or A45 accompanied with a R8, 911 or Exige for the weekends be a better option?smudge wrote:Most of those are school runners, I actually use my car daily all over town & have to rely on parking spaces rather than permit bays. Re: The RS4 is dead?
I couldn't find any dimensions on the new C63, but the in comparison to the last one
L/W/H
2014 C63 4633/1770/1391mm
RS6 4978/1935/1461mm
+ 345/165/70mm
Actually, just over a foot longer and 6" wider is quite a lot

Re: The RS4 is dead?
Thats also been a consideration, but in my apartment block I only have space for one car. A second car means an additional £40k for a 2nd space.......miatang wrote:Would a RS3, Golf R or A45 accompanied with a R8, 911 or Exige for the weekends be a better option?smudge wrote:Most of those are school runners, I actually use my car daily all over town & have to rely on parking spaces rather than permit bays. New C Class (not AMG)
w: 1810
h: 1457
l: 4702
So not that much in it, but still smaller

Re: The RS4 is dead?
I like the look of that, a lot, but whats the interior like?
I've always found the Mercs a tad old fashioned with the column gear stick and lay out.

Re: The RS4 is dead?
I enquired about the new c63 estate when I was contemplating the RS.
First deliveries September with car in showroom in May, I was told. But they couldn't confirm wether the gear stick was on the column or in the usual place. All they could say was that AMG cars normally have a conventional stick.
I can't stand the stick on the column and wouldn't buy one if it did have.
Have to say though that I think it looks great in the images.

I held onto my last for 6 years while I waited for the right thing to come. Hmmm ... Don't need to be quite that anal ...
And I fully understand about the RS6 size as a daily in town. One of the reasons I ditched the concept even though I wanted the boot space ... And the extra power would have been "nice"
Re: The RS4 is dead?
As above - hang onto the B8 Smudger! Extended warranty for peace of mind is about 1500 notes? Maybe less?
Residuals have dropped a bit in the last 12 months, but I cannot see the next 12 months depreciation being *that* bad. Although it does partly depend on what deals Audi do on the alleged 180 or so unsold unallocated cars they have sitting unregistered at UK dealers....
One things for sure - depreciation of a 2012 RS4 over the next 12 - 18 months is going to be absolutely miniscule compared to a new 81k C Class....
