Bucket Seats

Post by miatang » Tue Jan 27, 2015 11:54 am

P Exed my B8 S4 recently to a Q7 for the family. Toying the idea of an RS4 now. Looking at the used ones available there doesnt seem to be many with the bucket seats option. Is there a particular reason why? Uncomfortable? Too expensive? Affects resale?

I personally avoided the buckets because of the increased theft risk. I love them, but for my liking there are too many stories of RS's being broken into just for the buckets, causing thousands of pounds of damage in the process.

They are lovely but an expensive option, which may explain their rarity, they're also not the easiest to get in and out of and the side bolsters wear. I had buckets in my B7 but opted for sports seats in my B8 and don't miss the buckets, but each to their own.

I think as well that the standard seats in the b8 look a bit more appealing than the old fart comfort seats in the b7

Had the super sport seats in my S4. Found them great but just love the look of the bucket seats. Car will be garaged so not too worried abt the theft aspect.

Actually does anyone know if the seats electric or manual?

When purchasing own car and considering option - my Dealer did highlight that bucket seats are Manual (lever operated) only.

For me Buckets in an RS are a must however hard they are to get in and out of,
but when i had a test drive, the RS4 had the Supersports seats and I found them to be a lot nicer and more comfier to get in and out but I still opted for the Buckets.
Comparing the Supersports in the B8 to the Comforts in the B7 are miles apart, they look great and hold you really well.
Buckets get my vote.

if you buy a rs you should be getting the buckets,,it looks nothing without them and makes the car...I wouldn't say there uncomfortable but there sport seats and do what there designed to do...if you want comfort buy a rolls Royce etc etc :biggrin3: im a pretty well built lad and I have no issues at all...buckets all day long for me in any RS!!

buckets in my B7 and B8 - these are a must IMHO...

manual adjustment is better as you can super fine tune them to your back depending is youre on or off track...

they still have electric lumber and bolster adjustment and did a 10.5hr run through france in one day and never had any back pain.

I've not heard of an RS4 B8 having the buckets stolen.

RS3, there has been a well documented one whereby the thieves trashed the car getting them out and the insurance company wrote the car off. Not too sure on the RS4 B7 version, so cannot comment on that.
