Track day
I know there is a specific area for Track days but this is more of a specific few questions to the RS4 owners.
1. Have you taken your car on track yet?
2. If no, is that because you are not interested or don't want to "risk it"?
3. If yes, did you enjoy it and would you do it again?
I'm really keen to book up for a day in a few month's time, which should give the car a good chance to have properly bedded in and the icy, frosty track conditions will be behind us.
Would anyone else be interested (Graeme I know has done a few days before) would be cool to get a few of us together.
That said I would want it to go like this: http://youtu.be/XT6XGQrZc90

Re: Track day
I have no desire what so ever to track my RS. In my opinion, it's not a track car. Capable yes, but not a track car.
It's all torque talk.

Re: Track day
Point taken Smudge.
Just as a point though, a car doesn't have to be a "track car" per se to be enjoyed on the track.
It's a great way to enjoy the car in a legal way and learning a lot more about car control and dynamics.
Not sure if you've done a track day before but they're not all about just tearing around, thrashing it to it's limits. In fact, taking a session of tuition, I realised that it's all about smooth driving style, correct gear changes and car position
Each to their own though

Re: Track day
I think the RS4 would be quite fun on a dry track (4WD, wide sticky tyres), a lot of fun on a wet one. A dry track day will also be much more wearing (and so potentially very expensive) on your tyres and brakes. So try and schedule it on a miserable day weather wise!
(If you have ceramic brakes I'd forget it, bearing in mind the potential replacement cost.)

One of the most ridiculous quotes I've seen in a whileAndyGarton wrote: (If you have ceramic brakes I'd forget it, bearing in mind the potential replacement cost.)
What the point on having ceramics if your scared to track with them! That's what they are made for !
You'll never run out of steel brakes on the road
Not much point leaving the house in case you get run over !

Re: Track day
I think it will be a disappointment on track, heavy lump, and will destroy tyres and brakes

It's like saying the cars too heavy for fast RD driving, it's not, so why not the track??

Re: Track day
It's not exactly what you'd call a track car (think hammer rather than scalpel), but an RS4 is still a fun car on the right circuit
In the absence of a weekend car, I'll be up for doing a few track days in mine this summer
Not sure where the earlier concern about ceramics came from though. That's exactiy what theyre designed for

Yep, done plenty, but only with cars that I would call true track day cars. The best being a full day of tuition at Bedford. I've also never wanted to do it with my own car, I don't see the point to be honest. I didn't buy my RS to drive like a loon on public roads & I don't have that much of a desire to fully exploit it on the roads.
To clarify, I can't drive for toffee & I have a small penis, thats why I bought the RS.

It's all torque talk.

Re: Track day
First thing I did when I bought the c6 rs6 was drive it to the ring and thrash it! First lap was about 9:15 all straight line speed and bugger all corner speed, still loved it!
As far as I can tell it doesn't handle even close to the rs4, so I can't imagine the rs4 being anything other than great fun on track!
If you want to be the fastest on a track, you're going to smash something up. A mates a bsb rider and when I talk to him about being fast he talks about pushing so hard you fall off 15 times on te first day. The second day you only fall off 14 times....
I'm not prepared to be the fastest, I'll take the happiest! And that's easy with any car, doesn't need to be track focused. I quite fancy an old mx5.

Re: Track day
I am planning a trip to the 'ring this spring. It's on the bucket list. Gonna do it in the RS but will take it easy......having watched a load of YouTube videos, it would be fun to have track car to do it in where it wouldn't be the end of the world of you spanked it.
