Bodycare - Worth it?

Post by copperband » Mon Dec 15, 2014 1:58 pm

I've just had an email from the dealer offering me this service http://www.jardinemotors.co.uk/finance- ... /bodycare/
It is quoted as costing £495 normally but has been offered to me at half price £250.

Does anyone have a view on this, even at half price it seems a lot if it's just a sprinkling of "magic dust"

When I received my last car I had a full cleanse, clay and wax applied but if didn't protect any of the internal stuff like carpets, etc?

Save the money and go to a detailer.

There's a reason why it's half price, avoid. Either go to a pro detailer or have a go yourself, either way you will get a better result.

I got this done to my mark 5 r32 when I bought it, at the time I thought it was worth the 500 quid but having since saw what a proper detailer does for a couple of hundred it was absolute rubbish they done at vw.

Polish dust everywhere, marks on the windows where they had wiped it. Total rubbish.

I would totally agree with what is said above, if you have the time research it on detailing world and get some good products or if you're time constrained then find a good local detailer and let them do it.

If you are going to consider a professional detail I'd wait until spring because if you use your car on daily basis then it would be money wasted. Unless you have the G-Teknik crystal syrum which I believe is impervious to the elements.

G-Teknik syrum is the way to go.it's not cheap and you will need the car fully detailed even before the syrum is applied.they had the car for three days in total as once they have washed and detailed the car it need to be completely bone dry before the syrum is applied.it is amazing stuff ... The water does not run off the car more like it falls off.youtube has a few vids up.
The syrum was explained like applying a thin layer of super glue over the car.this is a professional application only as not to scare you if it goes wrong the only way to get it off is by wet sanding the paint work.

If you are interested give Lee @ Extreme Detailing a call as he had a lot to do with G-Teknik when this product first come out.

I applied the C5 G Tech to my wife's car about 6 months ago and it's been brilliant, so the crystal serum must be superb. First time I've used Gtechniq products and I have to say I'm very impressed, there is some effort involved (clay cloth, paint cleaner and application) but it's worth it because subsequent washing is so much easier. While I'm getting anal, consider using a water purifier, you won't see any water marks whether you dry the car off or not.

I've watched a lot of the G Technic video and the serum looks incredibly impressive. The only thing I can't find is anything that reviews how it it 6 months after being on the car?
It seems to work a little like an additional lacquer and therefore I wonder How smooth and shiny it is once covered in tiny surface scratches in the same way that a lacqer would be?

Does anyone have any experience longer than a few weeks?

Once the serum has been applied then I was advised that you would only need to snow foam and jet wash off... As little contact with the paint needed .ie contact less washing to hopefully avoid surface scratches.
Again give Lee a call as he can answer your questions in more detail.
