After a week away...

Post by smudge » Mon Sep 15, 2014 12:24 pm

I finally get the RS back today.

She's been in for a gearbox oil change, plus a whole host of warranty work. MMI issue, THE knocking (still not sure if this has been solved yet), engine lag at low speed & also idling at 2500rpm when coming to a halt. Having driven a 2.0tdi SE avant auto for the last week, I cannot wait to get her back. The last weeks driving has been soooooo painfully tedious!

:bash:
It's all torque talk.

I get the Idle at 2500 RPM in traffic, I was told it's normal and it's how they deal with the emissions in the engine management. I am keen to know if anyone else has this? Is yours fixed?

That's rubbish, I've never had that in my cars
How can higher revs reduce emissions ? If a man had invented a way of burning more fuel to cut emissions, then he'd be the richest man in the world :)

+2.

Utter BS. Jack Barclays confirmed it as a known fault & have I believe dealt with it. She had a circa 100 mile run this afternoon & the only thing I noticed that was an issue was the smell of the oil from the gearbox, but I wasn't surprised by that.

Sounds like the guy got confused. The higher revs when you first start are for emissions (presumably to bring the engine temperature up quicker), and the reason for it's rather rattly start up, but that is a relatively short interval and wouldn't happen in normal use just because it's idling.
