Yet another Phone question

Post by Graeme4130 » Fri Jul 04, 2014 10:56 am

Hi All
Sorry if this has been covered somewhere else, but I can't seem to find the answer
I connect my iPhone 5s into the system via bluetooth and voice calls and music work just fine
However, when the phone's connected in, unless I'm playing music through the media option, I don't get a beep for text messages from either the phone or the speakers. Same goes for Facebook notifications etc, and most importantly, my speed camera detector app
I only get the phones non call sounds when in media and playing music
Anyone able to give me any pointers ?
Cheers
Graeme

Ps, I know it's an RS5, but the forum for them is scarcely populated and the system's the same RS4/RS5 :)

Only guessing, but I'd think that the BT connection goes to sleep (to save battery) when there isn't any active exchange of data. Same thing happens with BT speakers.
The connection re-establishes automatically when there is a voice call or music to transmit but not quickly enough for a single "beep".

Close - but the actual answer is that your iPhone thinks the RS4 is a Bluetooth headset (or set of earphones). As such when they're connected the iPhone sends any audio to the Bluetooth audio output, and not the phone's ringer option even if you're not listening to that sound source in the car.

The only way to fix is to be listening to the iPhone for Audio through the Bluetooth or AMI option then you will still get the audio notifications, but to my knowledge you can't had it while listening to another sound source.
