just a question for the post 2014 owners who have Audi connect and an HTC or android phone
does the hands free continue to work when you insert the data sim in the car for the Audi connect system as mine throws the phone off hands free i questioned this to Audi last year and again today about a software fix they are unaware of any thing in the pipe line but am i correct in saying the post 2014 cars do not have this issue

You're right, later cars, from 2013 facelift I believe, allowed SIM for data and Bluetooth for phone.

If they can apply it to current cars, they can apply it to pre 2014 cars IMO. This 'feature' drives me potty. Refunding the amount is not a solution IMO, it's a way of avoiding the issue.....

Agreed, I don't understand the reluctance.

Other than me & Brooner, who else suffers with this on here? Anyone?

Spoke to Audi today awaiting a response as the person I talked to was unaware of the problem

They now clearly advertise that you can do both.

this is what i understand to be the case,if you have remote sim access on your phone then it will use the sim in your phone to use internet,i have to point out here that i am a tec nohoper so i could be wrong
i have a nokia lumia so no sim access so for me to get all functions to work i need to take the sim out of my phone and put it in the card slot, now im not going to do this every time i get into the car also the nokia has a micro sim the car needs a std sim,so i connect my nokia via b/t and use as a phone then i got a payg sim from 3 on the 123 tarrif which cost 1p per mb data and does not expire and use that for nav google maps and other functions,i believe you can connect a tablet via wireless but its not any use to me as i said earlier i am a tec nohoper but i am sure there must be someone doing the same or similar thing as me,i was using a vodafone payg but that used to expire after 30 days and i only used about 25mb a month, think i have had this 3 sim for 2 months now started it with a £10 topup its still got about £9.80ish in credit and as i said it does not expire
i dont know what system my nav is runnig but my car was reg end sept 2013 and i found a disc in the hand book which updated the nav, dont know what was updated but the system numbers changed on the nav unit, see if you have a update disc and put it in

spoke again to Audi and the result is pre 2014 cars cant use the sim car for the maps ect and have the phone on hands free as the newer models have a new peace of hardware in the unit so it would be a complete unit change out f you wanted the functionality of the hands free and the Google maps
<beep> really but unless you get a newer car or pay around 3k for a new sat
nav unit like me you'll have to lump it

So let me get this right. Audi <beep> up the design & the customer has to pay for it?

Nice work Audi. I wish I could do this to some of my clients & retain their business....... :audibash:

Sorry, but that is utter bollox. There clearly is an admission of an issue, otherwise why change this piece of hardware?

have you actually tryed a sim card to see if it works,do you know someone with a payg std sim with data that you could borrow to try,i got a vodafone payg sim from ebay with £5 data usage preloaded on it for 99p which i am now using as in the previous post i mentioned i was using a payg 123 "3" sim but that has stoped working as 3 sussed i was not using it in a phone and blocked it from working in the car (something to do with tethering ?? ) i am using my nokia lumia via b/t and using the google maps and the info on the payg sim works fully but i now have to top up £5 a month even though i only use about 20mb a month but have to buy 250mb /30 days topup

have you got the car set to make calls via bonded bluetooth connection, not the car sim card, also have you got a update dvd in your user guide, not sure what year my car is but i registered it end sept 13.
if you have a HTC does it not allow remote sim access profile because i thought that would allow it all to work via the bluetoothed phone, nokia does not allow this so thats why i have a data sim, have to say though i am def not an expert in any thing technical

yes bonded Bluetooth updated wit my DVD version number 123.565.8KR.88
but as above have this confirmed by Audi UK the post 2014 cars don't have the duel functionality as the newer cars have a different hardware so not possible on 2013 cars unless you use a Galaxy phone then i believe the data access can come form the phone and a data sim is not required

Pants really but its really a case of like it or lump it
options as far as i can see are buy a 2014 car or pay 3k for a newer MMI system or get a Samsung galaxy phone
i don't like it but there's nowt really i can do about

An update for this I recently changed to HTC 10 and so far the phone is now the data point will update on if I have all the functionally for the Audi connect but at the moment I get text in the car and am able to use Google maps
