Rear cup holder dilemma.

Post by moonigan » Mon Jun 30, 2014 9:11 pm

Firstly, Hi.

I'm currently looking at buying a RS4 which is available for Sept delivery. The dealer is offering a significant discount and low finance on this particular car. The specification is almost perfect apart from a couple of options which I don't really want (b&o and folding mirrors) and one option that with two kids is really useful. This is the storage pack with the rear cup holders.

The dealer is trying to find another car that is available with the option but is not having much joy. I've been told I won't get as good an offer on a factory build so I'm torn between getting a really good deal on a car that doesn't have this £100 option or waiting for a factory build.

Is there anywhere else in the rear kids can put drinks without risk of them ending up all over the seats or is it a case of 'No drinks in the back'

Cheers
Paul

Hi paul
The rear centre armrest has two cup holders in the front that slide out
My kids normally end up fighting over which one gets the most elbow space on the armrest, so it was rarely out in my RS4 :)
There's also kinda cup shaped buckets in the rear doors that would take screw lid bottles from memory

Btw, B&O is really good and I think well worth the few hundred pounds over the standard hifi

I have the cup holders in the armrest but I didn't order the "storage pack". I don't have the nets behind the seats or the drawers under front seats.

My kids are always using the nets in the back to put heaphones, ipads etc in, so I would say they're worth while. The cup holders in the arm rest are currently unknown to them, I tell them to put a drink bottle in the door as per Graeme advises. Most drinks bottles fit in there nicely & if they do make a mess, it goes in the door rather than all over the leather.
It's all torque talk.

Thanks for the swift responses. :thumb: The ability to store stuff in the door is good news and I'll probably take this car. I'll post some details once the orders is confirmed. Excited already.

I wouldn't imagine that it would be too difficult to retrofit the rear cup holders. Avoid Ribena :drink: and give the kids nothing but de-ionised water to drink then it won't make a mess if they spill it anyway .

Exactly. Mine put muddy football boots on the back of the front seats, bottle of coke in the door buckets with the tops not done up properly and spill crisps and chocolate on the seats and over the carpet

My oldest is very blonde, so I'll flog him off for camels next time we're on holiday. The youngest is strong, so the slave trade will have him

My first went to medical research - they brought him back as he kept escaping from the cage... he's on ebay imminently with no reserve...

The later frankly works for me at home. Until he realises it's not 'normal to live like this' then I release him to the wild and he can grow amongst the ferral animals...

Just thought I'd add some closure to the thread. The dealer managed to find me another car in their network that was again almost perfect. This car was Misano with black optics, Titanium Rotors, Sports pack and a few other options. I really like red and especially with the black optics.

However it had the piano black inlays instead of the carbon which I'm not too keen on. So I was left with a choice both of which included a compromise. In then end I went with Blue and no cup holders. Just need to wait until September now.

Thanks again for the input.
