Revolution Tuning parts in development - titanium exhaust

Hi all

We're working on a host of mods for our B8 RS4 and after testing, bringing them to market.

These will include:
Carbon - front lip, rear diffuser, mirrors, engine bay parts
Filtration - air filters, carbon intakes kit
Exhaust - Titanium full system
Brakes - Upgrades for steel disc users

Exhaust is one of our challenges & we're currently in talks with a famous UK exhaust manufacturer re a Titanium exhaust system.

Looking at a full system inc downpipes but without the expense of the Akrapovic carbon tailpipes which doesn't include downpipes.

Think current stainless Milltek system (circa £1750) and Akrapovic cat back (circa £4800) have their place in the market but we would be looking to develop a valved titanium system using the factory exhaust pipes and retailing it including vat at £2,995 as a lot of customers of our want the Akrapovic system but cant push themselves to stretch that high.

Need some feedback from you guys as to whether you would be interested in a system that sits in the middle of these two but is very lightweight, has a unique sound and the discrete looks of using OEM tailpipes.

Thoughts and feedback please as costs involved in working with Titanium are very expensive and we would need to order 20 units to get the plan off the ground.

Of course the first orders would get a preferential discount.

Big Glenn

Do you have any plans to get the exhaust system certified by TUV or equivalent? Some of the owners reside in jurisdictions with strict requirements.

thanks

Hi nwk00
For the first instance no this wouldn't be the case as the expense goes even higher sorry.

Obviously road legal for the UK and fully tested and guaranteed also.

Thanks
Glenn

I would certainly be interested, not a dead cert, but say 75% committed.

How Loud are we talking Glen ?
I'm after something that when the valves are shut is about the same the valves open on the Audi OE fit sports exhaust and then not hugely louder when open - I want it to sound sporty, but not setting alarms off and waking cities if you know what I mean?

I'm just about to have my Capristo fitted, which would work out slightly less than your charge I think...?? In all honesty, I would have been interested if I had know you were looking at doing something, but I am committed now. In terms of sound, something that can get the RS4 close to a C63 AMG when valves are open is what I am hoping to achieve with the Capristo, and would like to achieve from any alternative. The videos of RS4/5's with a Capristo are pretty crap imo & don't really give a true example of how it sounds. Which is annoying.

I'd be interested to hear how that sounds if you're getting along to one of the meets. Capristo's are normally top notch, so should make a nice sound on the RS4

I found the C63 sounded great with the window down, but not so great inside with them up due to massive amounts of 'older generation friendly' sound deadening :)

The Capristo on the RS 5 sounds epic. Easily the best B8 zorst. And R8 for that matter, both V8 and V10!!

Spoke to the manufacturer we're working with & we can get TUV approval if we can get enough orders on board...

Hope that helps

Thanks Matthew!
Like we say, we wont hold anyone at this point as just exploring interest on the project at the moment.

Its hard to say at the moment Graeme as we've not got our test one built or sound tested but we will be including downpipes in with the system so I would say it will be louder than the valves open position.
However Titanium has a unique sound unlike stainless and on tick over it's quieter IMHO and on full throttle it's something to behold, weve done Porsches, GTR's and M3's and they have been amazing.

I'd be interested in the carbon and other bits but the exhaust is a bit rich for me.

Can't see me shelling out a few k's I'm afraid.

Thats cool smudge, Capristo systems are very fine indeed and wondering if you get downpipes for that cost in stainless steel..?

C63, yup - that sound takes some beating!
