Hi all,
I picked up my rs4 at the weekend-it's got mobile phone high on it.
On the telephone section, the text message options are greyed out.
I've checked the Audi website and the iPhone 4S does do "message access profile", but I can't seem to make it work.
The phone works fine and I have an additional SIM card in the mmi for data.

Can anyone else confirm the text message works before I approach the dealer and am fobbed off.

Doesn't work for me. I think it is only over the car sim. So switch back to car for phone calls and it may work.

Or maybe it's the phone (iphone 5 for me)

You'll need a phone that supports the SIM Access Profile to get this to work and iphones don't.

Apple don't share the phone protocols I've been told by Audi, so the phone prep high become a waste of time if you have Apple products.

Just get a data only SIM, 20 quid 6 months data, no biggie.

Ive got an additional sim for data in the sim card slot- the T-mobile/EE £20 for 6 month Sim.

When you say its no biggie, how would having this sim help me get text messages from my iPhone on the MMI?

Are you thinking of some kind of text forwarding service, similar to call forwarding?

Ah, that is doomed I'm afraid.

It's no biggie for the rest as you get the calls and the data connection as required.

It states "message access profile" should work and if not it's the fault of the car.

Any thoughts as this could be useful when approaching Audi uk.

Hi I have just bought a 2014 RS4 and have paired my iPhone 8 with the car but when I press the "I" icon in the phones bluetooth menu there is no facility to enable notifications. I paired my iPhone with my wife's VRS Octavia and son's Superb and it is there just not with my Audi. Is there a hidden menu in the MMI somewhere?

I've not actually seen how the Audi system handles the text messages via MMI for a phone that _does_ support the required standard. That said, i've always used 'Hey Siri read message' to get it to read out any incoming messages and it uses the bluetooth connection to read them back via the sound system. Similarly, 'Hey Siri, send message to -NAME-" will allow you to dictate a reply, again using the car's mike and sound system to reply.
