Momentary power loss?
Has anyone else had this, typically when picking up from low speed?

Re: Momentary power loss?
Not sure if it's related, but I've had the emissions light come on in my car a few times now. The first time was because I basically ran it out of fuel and then hitting a pretty big bump causing a momentary fuel starvation
Since then it's been on a few times and needed to go back into the dealers to he reset
They've now been informed by Audi uk that there's potential issue with fuel pumps and that mine needs to be changed, which they're doing next week
If it's a common fault, then fuel pressure reduction from a faulty pump would generate the symptoms you describe

Re: Momentary power loss?
Interesting.
I had that twice where foot flat down and nothing happened.
Took it in and the dealer found no problem at all and told me (very politely and nervously) that he reckoned the side of my foot must have touched the brake at the same time. If you do this the computer disconnects the accelerator. Nice.
I guess with the fuel pump you would see a fault code somewhere and mine was clear, so I have accepted the explanation, but if it happens again I will be back...

Re: Momentary power loss?
That's a "feature" of the Audi engine management which I found really annoying with my 8L S3, you just couldn't left foot brake and keep the turbo spinning as it cut the engine fuelling - something I'd been doing for several years on my previous Renault 5 GT Turbo to great effect, the slingshot effect out of corners always brought a smile to my face so it was a great disappointment that I couldn't do the same in my S3.RSQ wrote:he reckoned the side of my foot must have touched the brake at the same time. These are performance cars, and Audi should not leave too many "nanny" bits of software and electronics on them to spoil our driving enjoyment.

As for the brake touch, I know I have wide feet, but I don't believe I've been clipping the brake pedal. I'll keep it in mind, but it meeds a trip to the dealers for sure now, the rear view mirror fell off on the way back home tonight!
Audi Assist are on their way already, but I'm not having some roadside glue solving that, I want it re-fitted at the dealers for sure.
Thanks for the comments guys, appreciated.

Re: Momentary power loss?
I agree - was so used to controlling rotation with left foot braking it scared the crap outta me when the power just died!PetrolDave wrote:That's a "feature" of the Audi engine management which I found really annoying with my 8L S3, you just couldn't left foot brake and keep the turbo spinning as it cut the engine fuelling - something I'd been doing for several years on my previous Renault 5 GT Turbo to great effect, the slingshot effect out of corners always brought a smile to my face so it was a great disappointment that I couldn't do the same in my S3.RSQ wrote:he reckoned the side of my foot must have touched the brake at the same time. I guess at least with a perm 4wd and NA you don't really need to worry about it

Re: Momentary power loss?
OK, strange, my car has been doing this as well from day 1, now 3 months in and about 3500kms on the clock and it's a regular but inconsistent occurrence when pulling from low revs. I'll ask the dealers and see what they say....
Re: Momentary power loss?
Had the same thing twice now in 4 months. Shrugged it off but thought it was strange at the time. Seems odd now reading quite a few people with it.

Re: Momentary power loss?
When my car was last with the dealers they loaded a firmware update that apparently was all about throttle response. That was back in October iirc & it's not been at the dealers since......
How long have others had the issue?

Re: Momentary power loss?
I have had the same thing also, always when driving at very low speed (sub 20km/h) in traffic. Then as traffic speed increases and I press the accelerator nothing happens for a few seconds and engine remains at idle. The last time it was around 5 seconds and car almost stopped rolling before the engine responded to the gas peddle. Don't think I hit brake as well but who knows. I have never had this happen at normal or higher speeds either.
