Newbie with questions...
Hi All!
First of all, great forum!
Well I should be picking up our RS4 later this week. It's all been some what of a rush as we have just had our first baby and we quickly realised we needed a bigger car... What better than an '4?
Spec is:
Met Black
Pan roof
V spokes
Aluminium pack
Sports pack
Storage pack
Driver pack
Convenience pack
Heated front/rear seats
Privacy glass
Advanced key
Hill hold
Connect high
DTV
Etc
Sorry if these questions have been asked many times before, but:
How do I link our iPhones? Car has connect high. I assume it's through a supplied iPod type lead which the mmi interfaces like my old TTS? Where do you physically plug the phone in...?
What is the most comfortable setting for the ride? And how do I quickly set the car to this?
How can I utilise google maps?
Anything to check for specifically on pick up?
Cheers, Andy

Re: Newbie with questions...
Hi mate and just the exact situation I am in, but our first isn't due till end of April but the RS4 arrives in march. Your iPod connects through the Mmi lead that's in the glovebox....... There is even a handy wee hammock that your phone slips into.
Now your iPhone won't work with the high connect as apple don't support this type of thing, most guys on here have opted for a unlimited data sim, just simply slot it into the SIM card reader and it uses this for the google maps and your iPhone can still be paired via Bluetooth for hands free calls........ There is a thread on here about this exact issue, but as for the initial set up I don't know, but I have opted for connect high on mine so will be interested too.
I looked recently and you can get unlimited data sims from giff gaff / virgin etc for about £12-15 quid a month, oh and nice wee spec

Re: Newbie with questions...
We had aberdeens demo over the weekend and the first thing upon jumping in was get the drive select onto individual and then set up individual
Steering.........comfort
Engine/gearbox........auto
Diff.............auto
Engine noise.........dynamic
I found this to be the best for me, suspension was more supple than I thought it would be, gear changes were nice and smooth, best bet is just to try some different set ups and go from there. When you pick it up listen out for any knocks from the suspension as my neighbours brand new RS5 was knocking and they tried to claim that it was perfectly normal, pretty sure guys that have had their cars for longer will add some other bits and bobs

Re: Newbie with questions...
Cheers guys for your quick replies, just what I was looking for!
Do the cables come with the car to link with the iPhones?
Car is stupidly well specc'd, I wouldn't have selected a lot of the options it has but it was at the local dealers, I was in a rush (and impatient
) and got an absolute mega offer.

My iPhone 5 plays very nicely with the MMI Plus unit. I have the port in the glovebox but do not need to use it.
I have a separate data only sim card inserted into the dash to provide the data for Googlemaps and the wifi hotspot.
For music playback, I have the wifi turned on on the iPhone, and then “Audi Connect” iPhone App running on the phone. Using the Media button on the MMI I then have full control over the music stored on my phone including album artwork. NOTE 1: All music must be in a playlist must be called “Audimusicstream” for this to work. NOTE 2: It takes a while to ‘sync’ the first time this is used.
For handsfree phone usage I have the Bluetooth connection on on the Iphone.
That’s it.

Re: Newbie with questions...
just tried this via my samsung galaxy and it works in the same way as above.
Not sure what this gives other than the internet radio feature but seems ok. I leave my ipod in the car usually (its an old touch) plus i use the jukebox for the music i want to listen to mostly. I also use the a2dp streaming as input usually from my phone as this allows Spotify/rdio etc to be used in offline mode which you cant get at any other way it seems.
Lots of options it seems!

Re: Newbie with questions...
Can you stream e.g. Spotify via Bluetooth?
Re: Newbie with questions...
yes you can - you need to use the Bluetooth media player option . Downside is you have to control it from the phone but upside is most things are available these days via spotify.
You do need the premium version to use on the phone as you probably know.

Re: Newbie with questions...
So how do you set it up to allow you to play your offline spotify account with a iPhone 5 ?

You can skip forward and backwards through tracks with the volume knob, but other functions are via phone onlythe911 sc wrote:yes you can - you need to use the Bluetooth media player option . Re: Newbie with questions...
Personally I dont like the whole 'iphone' thing so i use a samsung galaxy which allows remote sim access at the same time as streaming and phone/data etc..hunter wrote:So how do you set it up to allow you to play your offline spotify account with a iPhone 5 ?
To use a2dp, just access it via source (the name of the phone usually comes up just above the wlan option) then on the phone set it to use bluetooth audio. Once bonded, the phone will auto connect - just start spotify and the audio comes through the car unit.
Forward and backward/pause and play all work from the wheel etc..
