RS4 v c63. Convince me!

Post by Eiros1979 » Sat Nov 23, 2013 7:38 pm

Been lurking for a few weeks whilst I decide whether to go for a new RS4 or c63 estate. Plenty of reviews putting the two head to head most obviously Chris Harris vid which seems to pop up on everY search... Have any of you had the same choice before going for the RS4 and if so why the decision? Mixed feelings at the moment... The c63 engine is a brute but to my eye is starting to look dated whilst the RS4 simply looks great and very capable but arguably at the cost of a little charater? Got a deal im happy with on an RS 4 and need the push to make my final decision...

There's a new C class coming out next year in case you didn't know, but worth checking Freedom Contracts, they're offering some amazing deals on C63. I personally think they're both very good cars, each offering something slightly different, reckon the Merc is more fun but the RS might be easier to live with.

Pretty good summary there.
No doubt 4wd removed some tiny fun but if you are not living on track then controlling attitude mid corner with throttle isn't some thing that happens often. The extra weight of the front drivetrain no doubt adds understeer but again on the road you'd have to be quite the hooligan.

Don't get me wrong, I love my rwd and right time right place it is more fun... But as said above, the rs4 makes using 450ps actually practical without too much effort.

Horses for courses though and neither car is bad.

C63 great engine and noise, 80% of the time it's going to be hard to get the power down without the traction cutting in, this becomes annoying, rs4 looks more special and is an all round better car, plus less old man IMO that is

+1 on that
Noise is leagues better than RS4 on sports exhaust option, but poor traction is very annoying
Interior is much better appointed and if you were to lease rather than buy, Merc deals are miles better than Audi's too
If C63 estate had 4wd, then I'd have one over RS4 in a blink of an eye....... Next C class does I believe .....

Personally, on looks its got to be the RS4, looked at the C63 in black and all i can see is a hearse/funeral procession car...

And it doesn't take much to tweak the rs4 exhaust sound

DK, either you're aging rapidly or you love a bit of Austin beige. Maybe check out a nice Princess or a Maxi?!

I don't dig, and neither does the wife, and she has more style than I'll ever have, the beige/brown/grey combo. They clash horridly. And, as soon as you show anything pale a pair of jeans the dye transfers. About as practical as a kick in the balls.

I've only viewed it on my crackberry so it may be worse on a big screen...

But for me, there is a time and a place for beige interior...it doesn't happen often and is very rare, but I think this works.

Anyway, screw the interior, its a widebody C63 estate! I wonder what quality of the bodykit, paint etc ...
