Run in period?

Hi guys,

New the forum!

I take delivery of my new toy next week. Having had experience of M cars in the past (sorry!) I had expected some kind of run in period when revs should be kept low or the engine is restricted for the first 1k or so before going in for a service and the beast is unleashed. My dealer (in Abu Dhabi) tells me it good to go, I can jump into the RS4 and thrash it from day 1 and it won't need it's first service until 15k km. Sounds too good to be true?

Any advice appreciated!

ignore the dealer. read the manual. if you have any problems and the ecu trace says you thrashed it then you could be in warranty hell with just your word v's the dealers...

Hi Dave, Pretty sure this is the Link:

Refers to the running period of RS6 too, think the common theme is: engine run in on bench, other bits not so take it easy (6krpm) for 1500 miles.

Then BEAST it! :FIREdevil:

Thanks for the link, interesting reading and I like the many points of view!!! Last car I really run in was a Scooby and that was 1k miles less than 2.5k revs, a real nightmare to stick to, but well worth it when you finally got to open it up....
