Help me out guys, after driving the RS4 at Millbrook the weekend i loved it, dare i say as much as the B7 i have.
Now do I sell mine and spend another 30K on getting one or stick with the car i love.
I've owned my RS4 for 5 yrs now and still get a buzz and a smile from ear to ear and said i'll never sell, i love the look more of the B7 than the B8 but the B8 felt…
Newer if that makes sense! i liked the s tronic and liked the super sport seats,
any advice please?
Peter

Go and get one on demo, and see what you think over a longer period.

Peter,
Save your money man and stick with what you've got, I don't reckon you'll get any more of a thrill factor in the B8 (not that I've driven one like) than you do at present with the B7, certainly not 30k's worth anyway.
You could maybe think of doing some mods to your car, not sure what you've got at the moment, if your car is standard or not, but for a relatively small amount of cash you could change the feel of the car by carrying out some performance, handling or cosmetic mods.
Judging by it's mixed reviews a standard B8 RS4 may not be the car you want unless it specced up to the max adding even more cash!!!
Keep us posted on your decision whatever you do!

Cheers for the input,
My cars completely standard and i like to keep them that way though always love the sound of a milltek.
Think best thing to do is try and get a long test drive first to see if the wife likes it,
she drives it more than me and was shocked to here me say I was thinking of getting rid of it and getting a new one.
Got home today from work thinking ill get the new one only to see my one on the drive, and i think, what am i thinking that looks mental!!
oh well gonna see one at the weekend and go from there.
Ill keep you updated.
Thanks, Peter

Peter - word of advice, my Mrs drove the RS4 first when we went for the test drive as I wanted to see the roads before driving, she admitted then SHE knew SHE wanted the car within the first mile of driving... LOL
I havent driven the B7, always wanted one, the B8 gets mixed reviews it seems, but I loved it on driving it and cant wait to pick mine up in a week. I have driven much harder cars than the B8 on the dynamic suspension setting, I know people say its undriveable but I really liked it.
Get the long test drive sorted and I am pretty confident that you will not regret it, at least you can make a fair choice between the 2

Thanks mate, bet you can't want for the week to be over?
IMO the B7 seems to be a rawer car than the B8 but the B8 seems to be able to do it all so effortlessly, your gonna love it.
Stomach churning decision for me though, got to justify getting rid of a great car for another great car!!
Should count myself lucky.

Reason I've had my S4 for 3.5 years now, it does everything I need, what do I replace it with? I waited so long to buy the 'right' car in the first place, its been joyous and I still smile everytime I fire it up. Apart from being more modern and a fraction faster, what would the B8 S4 give? The fuel consumption isn't an issue, I only do 5k a year, the tiny fuel tank is more of an issue than the physical mpg. I'd miss the V8 thats for sure - at least you still get that epic V8 if you go from B7 RS4 to B8 RS4!
Good luck with your decision!

Yes I cant wait, excited and slightly annoyed its been in the country over a week and isnt at the garage yet...
I know what you mean about raw motor cars, between 97-01 I had 4 new impreza's, I still have a 01 P1, when they launched the 'bug eye' shape I was invited to a launch event I was really disappointed that they had refined a truly great motor car. Sometimes Raw is bloody good... I kept it because (as above) it did everything I wanted so why replace it, I had second cars (focus ST, Range Rover Sport 4.2 SC) but when I want to smile the P1 comes out
I was watching the top gear review of the B7 and you have to say if that is the car you have, you cant be disappointed.. You have the choice between one epic motor or another epic motor, thats not a bad place to be...
Given your dilemma I am sure someone will give you a weekend test drive, you sound like you dont need to rush the decision so take your time to make the right one

Have a long drive of a B8 through the dealer, and I bet when you get back in your B7 it'll feel old and out of date
B8 may not be a game changer dynamically in terms of the RS4 evolution, but it's a much easier car to live with, faster, nicer equipped and it looks and feels like a new car (which of course it is)
Plus, who doesn't like a new car ?

I have had b7 RS4 and also had a B8 S4 on extended. I have a B8 RS4 coming but to be completely honest, if I could have got the same the deal I got on an S4, thats what I would have had.
I have driven all 3 extended - imo the B7 is more 'raw' and as much fun as the B8 - the B8 is much more refined but really depends on what you use it for. - they are all good - a good b7 though is something to treasure!; so many mod'ed now (which personally I am not keen on)
Sure we have all seen this..
