Anyone have squeaky brakes? It started yesterday and only seems to come on when the car is warmed up and ive driven it for a few miles. Hoping its just because its new, but its bloody annoying atm.

Is you normal driving stop start as this can cause a build up on the disks take it out on a quite road and do some 80 to10 hard braking trying not to induce the abs this will remove any build up and get rid of the squeak

Maybe a couple of hard stops from speed should clean off the pads a bit ?
I'm assuming you don't have ceramics ?

try to be harder on the brakes during normal driving.
Being light on the brakes causes problems like squeaking to start with before ending up damaged beyond recovery.
As above - some good hard stops with no abs (even better if you can do it going down hill) and no stopping. You want them really really hot. then drive around for ten minutes to cool them. Worth doing every once in a while to keep them fresh.

Yeh I tried that last night. Did 2 hard stops. but it was back again this morning. Normal driving into work.

how many miles have you done,ive done 800ish and they have just started squeeking just as you come to a standstill,prob because ive been driving like a fanny as its been raining for ever down in good old essex,few good stamps on the pedal normally clears this up but wait till its dry first

You need to do at least 8 to 10 hard brakes with out bringing the car to a stop if your not feeling a bit sick after the breaking your not braking hard enough this will heat the disks and scrub off any build up

Only have 160 on the clock, but yeh its been pissing it down here. Dry today though so brake testing on the way home.

The best way is to do ome "medium" stops. Nothing eyeball popping but firmer than you would normally do day to day.
This gets some heat into the discs and lessen the shock of the next bit. This is where you do 8-10 hard as possible without engaging abs or stopping. I find it works best if you apply the brake pedal relatively slowly and consistently - you can then use the load transfer onto the fronts to press even harder without locking the wheels. If you jump to quick on the brakes the ABS/EBD will back it off.
2 Stops will barely get them warm

throw it back at the dealer to get them to sort it.

Repeated hard braking will only lesson your disc/pad life in the long run, where the dealer will sort it for free, pour you a coffee, clean your car and you might even blag an R8 or RS6 for the day whilst they're doing it

But it's not a (potentially) not a problem. Decent brakes are way way over spec'd for normal road use. If you want brakes that reliably stop a car under moderate track/fast road speeds then you have to accept there is a compromise. What are you hoping the dealer to fix?
As for reducing pad/disc life it doesn't work that way. When brakes are cold the pads lysis ally grind the metal surface of the disc. This is quite brutal esp when you have 'sporty' ceramic biased pads. Once up to temperature the braking comes from the pad material transferring to the disc which is less. I've got 28k on my current pads and discs and still reasonable amount left... I am always firm on the brakes and don't have any squealing.

I agree in part, but the key is that Hom's car's 'abnormal'
With this in mind, what if it's abnormal in the way that something's grinding or just not fit for purpose. If, later down the line, he gets to 4000miles and it's eaten a disc because of this abnormal issue, then who's going to have to replace the discs ? Him of course
I agree that high performance discs/pads aren't always without squeal, but in this instance they should be, so Throw it back to the dealer and let them sort it
Personally, most of my driving it tootling about, so squealing brakes from cold would absolutely do my head in

I would go as far to suggest it may be a similar issue to what us RS3 and TT-RS owners have had, in short Brembo don't design decent pad / disc combinations to a budget or more importantly the budget Audi give them. Low impact and suburban use in certain conditions means the over-specced discs are not used as they should and in turn they squeak because of the hard pad material to stop the pad deposition on discs issues of the B7 RS4. Hard pads against cold discs=squeak. They can fit different pads or you could just use the brakes like they are supposed to be.
