Hi Guys
I am just wondering how long on average people have to wait for their car once it has started to be built. Mine apparently started to be built on Monday, so I am wondering how much longer I have to wait......

Work on 6-8 weeks. Unless there's an exclusive element, that can stick a bit of extra on.

Well I spoke to my dealer yesterday and they said they have seen RS4's turn up 2 weeks after the build date in their showroom. They said anywhere between 2-6 weeks. (As doodlebug stated, this excluded exclusive stuff)

My car was a week 35 build (w/c Aug 26th).
It is due to arrive at the port in Dubai on 20th October.

I did see your posts about your car Matthew, how long is it taking to get your car from factory to Dubai?

Assuming a 7 day build, then the vehicle would have rolled out of the factory on 2nd September. Arrival at the port in Dubai on 20th October means a total of 7 weeks from factory to port, most likely 2-3 weeks from factory to sailing and 4-5 weeks on the sea.
Let's see how quickly it gets from port to delivery day.

Ok, a little further detail...
By a process of elimination I think my vehicle is on a vessel named 'Green Bay'. It departed Bremerhaven (a typical port of departure for Audi) on 22nd September.
Having subsequently passed through Hamburg, Antwerp, Southampton, Barcelona and Savona, it crossed through the Suez canal on 11th October and is due to dock in Dubai on 20th October.

It was not difficult really, the dealer advised which day the ship was due into port here in Dubai, then i googled to find the ship names arriving on that Day, then whittled the list down to just vehicle carriers, and finally traced the history of those vehicle carriers to see which originated in Germany (thankfully there was only one!)
