So fist bit align the steering wheel at 90 deg to expose the access hole for the air bag catch there is a cut out in the steering column to access the lower catch.
Then remove the battery terminals so the air bag does not go off

Then you will need a small screw driver to push the catch towards the centre of the steering wheel, while pulling the air bag and you will feel the air bag move, repeat for the other side.
There is no need to remove the airbag.

Then tease the black trim out of the steering wheel I did this side at a time

Unclip the connector and the I star head screw holding it in place

Then gently pull out the old paddle and insert the new one tighten the screw re connect the wire connector and repeat the other side.

Once both sides are done, double check the black trim around the steering wheel is fitted correctly, and all the wires are were they should be, then align the airbag and push back in you will feel the clips catch.
Then re connect the battery terminals and your done.
Took me an hour and I’m a mechanical <beep>.
much better for 10-2 hand psition and cost £201 from Audi
ok not as smart as the R8 paddles but OEM thats what i wanted

and the sharp eyed out there will notice the air bag is not fitted corrctly i did take it off and re fit

The newer ones do look a lot better, but I can't say I've ever noticed my current ones being too small
Like they say, bigger is always better though

Not that I can bloody drive it at the moment anyway as I broke a few ribs and knocked myself out on my bike Wednesday and am currently laid up :( :boohoo:
