Trip to france Pictures

Last week, I took a few days in France with my father for a spot of fishing and lots of driving. We covered the best part of 1400miles, so I thought I'd post up some pics of the car as I took a newish camera with me, so got a little trigger happy at times :)
I've made the same trip down to Sommedieue many times as I take my father there fishing annually (he's now well into his 70's and suffers from Alzheimer's, so there's no way he could do it alone)
I'd say that the longer 7th gear and smooth DSG box makes the B8 a much better travel companion than my previous B7 RS4 Avant. I know it's largely irrelevant in these cars, but it averaged 24mpg on a trip where we spent most of the time between 90 and 100 on the motorways, whereas my B7 used to do the same trip and similar driving conditions averaging around 20
The froggies seemed less impressed with it than the previous car though as it drew less attention at the services. Perhaps that's the Suzuka grey effect rather than the black of my last car. Although we did get the police asking in the universal hand gesture to 'boot it away from the toll' which isn't the sort of thing you get with the UK police too ofter

Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics ;

And a quick one of the R8 V10+ I had the week before that has since persuaded me to rename my Gallardo Saving fund into a V10+ saving fund :)

I didn't realise you'd had a plus I thought they lent you a straight V10! I agree, it's highly desirable. I've management approval for a mid life crisis in the next 18 months.

I was in France week before last in the RS6, it guzzled the miles, mid 20s on the autoroute. It draw a LOT of attention, more than its had ever. Even the rozzers were craning their necks.

Good to hear the B8 is good. Though the smaller fuel tank could be a small irritation, it's already a bit of a culture shock. RS6 did at least 50 miles more on a (bigger) tank.

Oddly enough, I'd initially been told it was a normal V10 with ceramics and DSG, but when I was in there they'd told me it was a plus. Which, I guess, explains why I liked it so much. Needs buckets though :)

Even more odd, buckets standard, so they ordered option supershite seats or they don't know their own car!!

You know I don't think they are. I built a v10+ car on the Audi configuration site and I had to spec buckets if I remember correctly
I'm not 100% though, but Audi Swindons demo v10+ has the same 'sports style' seats. They're not dissimilar the standard ones the B8 RS4 comes with, which aren't a bad seat, but they're not for me as the buckets just seem to fit me nicely

Haha, that was me that lent them against it. They're plastic coated carbon or something similar I think, so not going to scratch the car

Buckets deffo standard on the plus, standard sports seats (not supershite in fairness) are no cost option.

Configurator....dangerous.

My bad, looked at picture and thought they looked more sculpted. Can't be having those in an R8.

could've been worse, it could've been taken over by the ever ongoing discussion about B7 RS4 tyres....
