Order placed, now the waiting game begins.

Post by matthew.lewis2 » Sun Jun 16, 2013 2:57 pm

Well, it's done. After 5 years of B7 RS4 ownership and as of 11am this morning the order is placed and I am now awaiting delivery of a new B8 RS4. Let the wait begin (estimate at this stage 5-6 months).

I am rather excited! I havent seen a single B8 RS4 on the roads here, with only 4 orders being placed so far in Dubai for this vehicle, mine being the 5th (and the only RS4 in Dubai to be Sepang), making for an exclusivity factor waaay higher than Ferrari FF''s, 458's, California's, Lamborghini Aventador's etc.

The Middle East standard specification is higher than for Europe so there aren't too many options left to tick. In my opinion the only significant options not selected on my vehicle are the ceramics and Audi Exclusive interiors.

I am braced for an anticipated delivery for the week prior to Christmas, any improvement on that and I will be happy.

I would love to see your '2nd' rs4 when it arrives. Did you know that the '1st' rs4 you ordered has now sold? We might be able to get a Dubai based B7 and B8 photo taken!

@ Matthew

That will make a nice Xmas gift to your self.
I really don't understand why the car takes so long to come to this part of the world.

I'm happy Al nabooda has managed to sell the car. Never thought anyone would buy that RS4 in the region without navi especially since its a must have here when it comes to resale.

I will send you a shout once I get delivery. Photo shoot of the B7 & B8 sounds good to me.

Congratulations on your order. The 5-6 months will fly by......not lol Will be a nice Xmas present.
I've 4 weeks to go since i made my order in Feb, in fact it hits the production line tomorrow (week 25).
Shame you haven't got the quiet country B roads to really push your machine to the fun limits in Dubai. Although you do have some long 4 lane straights to hit the top speed. Did you get it de restricted?

We don't have B roads but we do have Jebal Hafeet, a mountain climb, 6 miles long with 60 corners.

Nice spec, I could not justify the ceramics to myself, I won't be doing any track days, and all in all, I've been quite satisfied with my 'normal' setup on the existing B7 RS4, and heated seats were definately not on my must have list!.

I am looking forward to the big jump in 'tech' in the new car.

Have you had a test drive? I haven't, due to rarity/low demand here in Dubai the dealers don't keep any stock, so delivery day will be my first day behind the wheel of a B8 RS4.

Sounds just like me. I have 4 weeks to go and the excitement is building. I joined the site a week ago to try and find some reviews and pictures of them. I still haven't seen a B8 RS4 on the road in my area (Norwich) other than the demo i drove in February. Have you had an RS before? I had a B7 RS4 Avant from 07-10. Absolutely loved it, was one of the saddest days selling that, even when it was traded for an Aston Martin (which never performed as well)

I borrowed the local dealer's demonstrator for a weekend before I ordered.

Super quick, amazing noise, really well screwed together. Don't forget you now buy a car which has been around for a few years so all the little issues with B8 version 1 should be done with (I hope I don't eat those words).

Suspension in dynamic made my teeth chatter, no joke. On a country road in Suffolk it was almost un-driveable with your foot on the floor, it bounced everywhere. Switch it to comfort and the ride was great.

I also borrowed the RS5 which somehow felt more wallowy, but given they are supposed to be the same underneath I don't know why (maybe just me).

I also had their S8 out for a day. That was amazingly fast and could give your back a rub at the same time. But a £90k S8 will be worth £30k tops in 3 years which is too much depreciation for me to take, even though it would be nicer on the motorway than the RS4. Bit too heavy to enjoy going round corners in too.

Was really happy with the RS4 though, subtle styling, ballistic performance and unlike a C63 AMG or M3 won't put me backwards into a field when it rains, I am aware of my limits as a driver.

I think you need those V-Spokes, every Audi on the planet now has the rotors and the standard 19s look really terrible I wouldn't put them on a caravan.

The ceramic brakes - I fancied treating myself, they do improve the handling a little (since they are so light and part of the unsprung mass), they don't fade if you end up overcooking it on a long country road run (but I doubt I could get there on the normal brakes anyway), they look great (sorry) and given I had ticked around £7k of other options to not take a "safety" one seemed rather mean. I expect much forum abuse for the looks great comment.......

I looked at many colours, but I am not one for the bright blues or reds, black looks dirty too quick and silver isn't for me.

But having seem an RS6 in matt daytona I may have to get mine wrapped, it just looked amazing.

I was very fortunate - I test drove in February at my local dealer in Poole - a standard spec RS4 (no sports pack etc) and wasn't expecting to like it - wow, it was a revelation. I then spent a few weeks trying to find a physical car in the UK - lots of noise but no luck (I was offered a blue one with a mixed spec and decided against it). My company car provider (I run a business which has a fleet but have bought the RS4) helped me via his contacts and I secured an already allocated factory slot and then re-scheduled the specification for that vehicle.

My order was placed early March and I took delivery on 20th June; the dealer told me order times for new orders are at least 6months now.

The car is in Daytona Grey (have posted pics in the colours section of the forum) with Advanced key, hill-hold assist, Convenience package, Heated front seats, High-beam assist, Matt aluminium styling package, Door mirrors – electrically folding and auto dimming with memory function, Fine Nappa leather, DAB digital radio, Power-operated tailgate, Privacy glass, Satellite Navigation with MMI 3G – HDD-based, Sound package, Sports package, Technology package – Advanced, 20 x 9J ‘5 V-spoke design’ polished Titanium alloy wheels.

I avoided the ceramic brakes (the standard fit are amazing and I am not going to use it on track) and the bucket seats (you really must sit in them before you tick that option - you lose a lot of electrics and space and for me they were not comfortable enough for long distance journeys which I do quite a lot as I found them too firm and the normal seats are excellent).

It looks amazing, sounds incredible and drives so well. Importantly it is so well built - the fit and finish is stunning.

Happy to answer any questions - they are very rare and I have only seen 1 other on the roads so far.

You will all adore your new RS4's when they are delivered.
