7th gear issue's?
Ok so I've only done 250 miles in it so far but in D it is reluctant to change into 7th until 59 mph?, in manual it will drop in at 36, the demo I've tested twice goes to 7th at 36 when in D but has done 4.5k, is the still a learning process on the S Tronic which could still be learning?
Re: 7th gear issue's?
I've got exactly the same problem with mine. When did you get yours, mines at the dealership being looked at?Audi Steve wrote:Ok so I've only done 250 miles in it so far but in D it is reluctant to change into 7th until 59 mph?, in manual it will drop in at 36, the demo I've tested twice goes to 7th at 36 when in D but has done 4.5k, is the still a learning process on the S Tronic which could still be learning?

Re: 7th gear issue's?
No such problems with mine
Dumps it in 7th quite early (particularly in comfort mode) or I can do manually with no problems.

Re: 7th gear issue's?
it does depend how you've got the drive select mode set and of course engine temp. In comfort it should go up the rations much sooner than you're describing.

Re: 7th gear issue's?
Quick update on the 7th gear issue. Went to the dealership last week and they took some diagnostic readings off the gearbox and sent them off to Audi UK who have now sent them to "Ze Germans" who are looking into it.
However, I went for the first long drive in the car today since getting it and it seems to have fixed itself. Around 20 miles into the journey the gearbox started changing up when expected and continue to perform faultlessly. When I started up for the return journey I was expecting it to go back to its old ways, but no, good as gold all the way home.
Don't know why the only thing I can put this down to is that I've just gone past the 500 mile mark and the first 500 miles the gearbox was kind of running itself in.
Anyway other drive in it tomorrow so we will see if it was a one off or not. It definitely helps with the economy as my trip today (around 70 miles) it averaged just under 26mpg this being on single track A roads and not driving like Miss Daisy.

Re: 7th gear issue's?
Audi Steve you need to go for a 250 mile drive tomorrow to see if it makes a difference on yours too.

Can I ask how you normally drive these DCT gearboxes? is it usual to have it in D (auto) or change manually

Set in dynamic in D goes into 7th about 40 but usually in S mode then manual for a B road blast no issues so far

Re: 7th gear issue's?
Same here. When in manual you can time the up-shift such that you get the awesome throttle blip without hammering it. on mine it's above 5k rpm, yours probably about 6.5k rpm.535dboy wrote:98% of the time I drive it manual however I have noticed better economy in drive!RS4Owner wrote:Can I ask how you normally drive these DCT gearboxes? is it usual to have it in D (auto) or change manually

Re: 7th gear issue's?
Last night's drive had the car suitably warmed up, and once in 7th it was available when I decelerated into a 30 limit to as low as 28mph ish with no probs.Brooner wrote:Set in dynamic in D goes into 7th about 40 but usually in S mode then manual for a B road blast no issues so far
