Bristol Audi offered me a decent contribution as a deposit. Think it was 3-4k.

I'm amazed. Was that as a part of a part ex?

Must be desperate to shift some cars.

Correct. I'm too poor to buy one outright.

That explains it, just number fudging. I'm pretty sure that as a cash buyer most dealers would give you diddly squat.

A discount of £4943 is not to be sniffed at then...? UK-supplied by Audi Main Dealer
Best to sell your own car privately.

You beat me to it with Broadspeed.

Specced one up on Audi website, came in at £63,920 OTR

Broadspeed same spec came in at £58,977 OTR - Audi Main dealer supplied.

There are discounts to be had - just need to look :)

Did the same when i was looking to buy an S4 18 months ago - local dealer was unwilling to match at the time, decided to buy the RS4 instead, then local dealer rang me about 2 months later (November time) asking if i was still interested in the S4 as they needed to shift some cars and would match the price i presviously obtained from Broadspeed - told them id bought the RS4 :)

Hi there. I'm new to the forum. Just on the discount issue on the new RS4....I think you got an excellent deal, Spikeyboy. I have just recently placed my deposit on my RS4 through Broadspeed and ended up with a deal to pay £58.5k for a speced car that would otherwise be £61k. Unfortunately, I have to pick it up from Maidstone Audi and live in the North East....can't wait for the drive back though! I don't know if anyone has been following the monthly blog on Evo magazine about the reviews on the RS4....there have been early experiences of the failure of the DRC system on their car, which has the sports pack....hope it is not going to be a big recall issue!!

Uhh..ohhh.

You've just identified an Audi main dealer prepared to discount more than most - I don't think that Broadspeed or Maidestone Audi or Audi UK will be best pleased?
However, a sale's a sale.

I'd have thought that a £4.5k discount would have been worth fighting for unless it's a stock car?

I'd happily drive from North East England to Kent for a discount like that and think how much pleasure the drive home will give you?
A long day, but a good day.

Good luck with your new car.

Are you aware that you can extend the Audi warranty up to 5 years or 90k for a reasonable amount? (£1250 iirc?)
- money well spent if you're nervous about the DRC.

I thought the warranty add on had to be on the factory order.
