If you've not read it.....looks like their RS4 longtermer is "knocking" a la DRC issues of old.

I am very close to pulling the trigger but confidence has been knocked.....hopefully the 5 years warranty will help but..... :audibash:

Mine has just been knocking like a bastard...
Loose steering rack bolt.

DRC is a pita but not the root cause of everything.

Hah- wonder if that's why audi make drc an optional extra on the new rs4/5.

I had my B7 fixed on 2 separate occasions.....not the end of the world but as you say a pain...

over speed bumps etc. there's usually a very noticeable clunk. you'll be unlucky at your early stage of ownership....and you have warranty so don't let it spoil your new car :)

I'll keep an eye (ear!) on it

Really not often and if the garage that evo have taken theirs too aren't sure then I'll think I'll wait as I don't want it parked up while the scratch their head!

i found the demo car i took out a bit cluncky over rough roads but i think it was down more to the 20" wheels less forgiving on the shocks

Best way is to just look with torch.
Failed shocks have fluid on them and leaking.

Seriously worth checking the passenger rack bolt first as its easy to fix and cheap.
Just need a universal joint, extension bar (about 6") and socket wrench. I think the socket is a 12 pointed 10mm (or 12mm)

If the bolt is loose then it'll knock like a bastard at low speeds and ESP bumps.

Mine knocks occasionally when in 'Comfort' mode. A lot more when in 'Dynamic'. Will get it booked in next week, will probably get grief from the local garage who couldn't get a car for me and said that I would not get one anywhere!
