i really dont understand why you say it doesnt move the game on .. 450PS !!!! the B7 does not make 420PS, so its at least 50PS more, better gearbox, and here's hoping the Sports Diff & drive select give it the handling to boot

i think they've done a good job on the arches ... defo phatter than C6 and RS 5 ...

the B8 f/l ICE tech is so far ahead of the B7 its unreal!

I for one see the B8 as a missed opportunity, I will wait until I see it in the flesh, the B7 might not make the 414 as published but, it doesn't cost much to get it there and more.

B8 has the same torque as the B7 too. Not much of as game changer in 7 years.

Pity they couldn't make the 4.0 turbo fit.

I agree about the ICE tech though.

But it won't be 450ps either, what have the RS5's made, 430-440? So as it stands with only the hyperbole to base my percpetions on for the RS4 owners and certainly the majority on here that have modified theirs what is the incentive for them to move on to this? With the B5 to the B7 it was better dynamics, more power and a more updated cabin for not a lot more money to transfer from one to the other given new for new or new vs residual prices. B7 to B8 is probably not better dynamics, not likely to be better usuable power given the issue a lot of people documented with the s-tronic mated to a high revving V8 unless Audi have been listening and revised ratios and a updated cabin (most of which will be optional extras) for a lot more money. It will no doubt be around the same price as the RS5 so add bits of kit on that were standard on the B7 plus the sports diff it is a whole lot more expensive (70K ata guess) and worse because B7 residuals are not as strong % wise as when the same happened B5 to B7.

I sincerely hope I am wrong on some points as I do want a car to progress on to but at this time with what is being said about it this RS4 isn't it. And I will test drive one to justify it or my comments.

Also, is it going to be aa limited run? Doubt it and if so only because of poorer than anticipated sales. Like said before, maybe we B7 owners were spoiled with how good the B7 is.

its not as if the B7 has struggled with its 380-390PS

Personally I'm happy it is the RS5 V8

I think it sounds lovely and after a long weekend in the new m5 I was so disappointed with the sound of the turbo'd V8

How much power would they have given it with a turbo - 480 maybe. Not massively different

I wouldn't have tuned the turbo car anyway now that dealers void warranty on tuned cars

one of the best aspects of the B7 is the noise .. it makes up for the lack of power

the RS 5 is lot closer to rated power so far

my only problem is justifying the price difference of RS 5 vs. RS 4 when they are effectively the same car and I dont need an avant !

I will jump in, Im glad its not got that Heavy V8 turbo. Every man and his dog is doing turbo's these days. I'm happy its the NA V8 .4.2. They could have maybe put it to a 4.4 or wound the rpm up to 8500, now that would have been good!

Like we chatted at the meet, for us current B7 owners its no real leap forward in terms of engine driveability.

However, when I was tracking my B7 I wished it had S-tronic. Your right I feel this new RS4 will beat a stock B7, only due to quicker gear changes.

After being a passenger in Nigel's car at Spa the bang for buck does seem appealing if the B8 was a V8 turbo.

The C6 is too big for me otherwise that would be my next car.
