I've had all the RS FORDS through out my life. I had a Mk2 RS2000 when my eldest was born in 1987. A series1 RS turbo in 1991 when my second son was born. Now my girlfriend is preggas with a daughter and I have a RS6. I reckon RS runs through my kids blood.

Me too, I always loved Ford as a kid
Had a Mk2 XR2 as my first proper car (after a metro - And a Triumph Toledo that I had when I was 14 and restored with my father), then a couple of MK4 RS Turbo's (one pre and one post facelift with the curled rear spoiler edges), then a Torquesteering monstrosity of a Fiesta RS Turbo, then at 21 I had an early 4WD Saphire Cosworth with a 2.4 PE conversation that made circa 4oobhp, but would eat driveshafts and turbos as cost me over £3k a year to insure 3rd party only, but got me laid more than any other car at that age :)
I still get along to some of the RS owners club meets locally to here, and still have an itch to buy an Escort RS Cosworth in Mallard Green to keep in the back of the garage and drive on special occasions (Although I did drive a standard one not so long ago, and it was painfully slow compared to modern cars)

I was more of car whore than DK. At 15 I started driving(on my elder brothers license SSH). First car was a mk1 escort 1300xl. Then 2 other mk1s. At 18 my dad brought me the mk2 RS2000. Then went through Orion ghias stage. To them at 23 brought a house and XR3i. At 24 a Series1 turbo. 25 Was in partnership with a car trader and brought several MK2 RS TURBOS. Had a couple of Sierra Cosworths and a really stupid quick RS500 Cosworths many Fiesta turbos. All the different colours in the Escort cabriolet range. I even had a couple of Metro turbos they were funny little pocket rockets. 1998 brought my first Impreza turbo in the same year a Impreza sport wagon from new. Then 2000 got a new Green with Gold wheels Impreza turbo. 2001 went sensible and had a BMW 330d touring. Liked it that much that I brought a new one in 2003 actually the most expensive one ever sold by BMW Birmingham cause I ticked every single options box. 2005 split up with elder kids mum and went to pot and lost the lot. Took some time to get my head back together during that time had golf gttdi, BMW 118d ,merc 220d coupe and over the last few years my signature cars as you can see are all audis. Happy days more fun to be had. RS RULES OK!!! Lol.

I had a little snigger at your collection of escort cab's, that was the ultimate hairdressers car :)
Bet you wished you hung onto that RS500 given current values
I remember when they weren't selling at £10k as no-one wanted them, now they're hitting silly money

My First car..... (off topic now lol!)

....A Champagne Renault 25 2.0 GTS.... Made for the ideal "smokers" choice, made me quite popular.....

I could start a let's go through the history thread (some similar stuff - some whack stuff; and don;t even go into the you should have kept that!!).... but on topic

I'll tell you what I'm loving about the RS4; which wasn't expected on paper specs alone - and not fully appreciated with a test drive. Having just been in a similar situation but with two young kids:

So GTR no - Too expensive to run; and it's a playstation (all be it a fast one); R8 Wicked, but two seats.

For me 7000 miles in (can't stay out of it); what;s amazing is this car just faultlessly works, that's the first thing - I know everyone talks about the B7 steering and gearbox (bet they are good) but the DSG in mine makes the car, and makes the engine easy to handle; it goes up and down the box to find power where torque is low - makes it entertaining.... Then it;s comfortable; the pano sunroof is just lovely lovely in the sun, you just get on with it - it does everything (so far); including looking awesome - but understated.

Outside of the B8 for me options were non-existent - but it has turned out much higher than my expectations. Happy shopping buddy!

Yea Graeme I sure wish I had in hindsight. Be worth a small fortune now cause it was a moonstone blue one.

Anyway back on topic. Having a C7 myself and my son having a B8 and having driven both. I'd have to say although I love my car for shear animal straight line performance but it does feel rather heavy and less chuckable when your out on the B roads. So personally having driven a B8 around pretty hard I'd hate to say but it was a better drive in the twisty's. With a £55,000 budget I'd defo buy a B8 over anything on the market.

Sorry for the late reply, I'd missed your post!

I've had quite a few cars since the S3, but now have an RS4 for fun and an F10 5 series as a daily. My mate Nas who had the B5 MTM RS4 is back in an RS4 too!

Hope all is well for you!
