I think it’s just that Porsche products are generally in Vogue right now.
Rightly so though, as the products are good and Audi could learn from them.
True, but the Macans will be nearly as common on the road as RR evokes within a year I think. The nice thing about RS audi's is their exclusivity.

Not sure I agree whole heartedly with your sentiments. A friend purchased and spec'd a Macan diesel to nigh on £70k and has just sold it last week for a £500 pound loss after 6 months ownership and 6500 miles motoring. There's not many new cars you could do that with.[/quote]
I can well believe it, I did something similar with the F360 and 997 when they first appeared and my neighbour has had 2 new Range Rovers since August and boasts that his depreciation is negligible, but for many folk (including me these days) it's not necessarily desirable, practical or possible to speculate and swap out every few months, the reality is that they will be into their new car for a couple of years at least, so depreciation will be a factor. For me this class of car is for towing, family trips and motorway munching and on that basis I think the Macan is over engineered.

Re: B8 RS4 or SQ5 (stop me buying the latter!!)
I am lucky to have both in our household the RS4 and the SQ5 both totally different motors the wife drive the SQ5 as a daily commute about a 70 mile round trip
fuel economy is not bad my wife's last car was the S3 and the SQ5 gets better mileage and believe it or not straight line speed is quicker than the old S3
good driving position comfy and good mile muncher
i find it a hoot the that such a big motor gets off the mark so quick
the gear box is not as quick as the RS4 but sill pretty good it will still change up if you floor it in manual mode not to wallowy in the corners but again its a big car higher up
yes the Macan will handle better but the diesel equivalent is slower as stated and the turbo is 30k more than the SQ5
But the RS4 puts a bigger smile on my face
either would be a good choice but it depends if the head or the hart wins

Chuckle, so you've asked the question in an rs4 forum - no real surprise on the outcome, hopefully with a bit of man logic explained!!! Ask the exact same question on an sq5 forum, i'd love to see how that comes back!!

Saw an ABT SQ5 today, and it looked really good
Not sure if you can get a power upgrade, but I reckon that'd make a really good everything car
Some thing like this, but in white with black wheels ;

That looks nice, MRC have done a few apparently

We have both and to be honest i driver the SQ5 all weekend with the family (far more comfortable) but Monday morning back in the RS4 is always a pleasure. Porsche telling us up to 20month wait on a Macan S with Options (a lot of them)

Thanks, good to hear from people with both, shame the box changes up, that just gives the feeling you are not in full controlBrooner wrote:I am lucky to have both in our household the RS4 and the SQ5 both totally different motors the wife drive the SQ5 as a daily commute about a 70 mile round trip

Re: B8 RS4 or SQ5 (stop me buying the latter!!)
This is the thing, I don't need a car in the week so the wife drives it then, I only use our car on the weekend and with the family in with me 90% of the time, as you point out the sq5 would be by far the more sensible choice for my situationRFJRS4 wrote:We have both and to be honest i driver the SQ5 all weekend with the family (far more comfortable) but Monday morning back in the RS4 is always a pleasure. Think I am going to keep my b7 for a while longer whilst i decide and also watch the RS4/6 & sq5 come down in price far quicker than my car

Was in the same boat as you, wife used the RS4 during the week then at weekends i would drive it, with the wife and kids fully loaded up,j1sgo wrote:This is the thing, I don't need a car in the week so the wife drives it then, I only use our car on the weekend and with the family in with me 90% of the time, as you point out the sq5 would be by far the more sensible choice for my situationRFJRS4 wrote:We have both and to be honest i driver the SQ5 all weekend with the family (far more comfortable) but Monday morning back in the RS4 is always a pleasure. that was the only time i would get to get pleasure out of a car, at weekends, so that was why I needed the RS4!
What would you rather be driving around in the only time you get to drive, SQ5 or RS4?

Re: B8 RS4 or SQ5 (stop me buying the latter!!)
Funny enough I was thinking this exact same thing today, between the two I think it has to be the rs4, cheers all for the comments and help.Outtlaw wrote:Was in the same boat as you, wife used the RS4 during the week then at weekends i would drive it, with the wife and kids fully loaded up,j1sgo wrote:This is the thing, I don't need a car in the week so the wife drives it then, I only use our car on the weekend and with the family in with me 90% of the time, as you point out the sq5 would be by far the more sensible choice for my situationRFJRS4 wrote:We have both and to be honest i driver the SQ5 all weekend with the family (far more comfortable) but Monday morning back in the RS4 is always a pleasure. I would imagine once you have driven the rs6 the 4 will soon be forgottenJust need to test drive the RS 6 to see if its that next year or a b8 rs4 this year
Re: B8 RS4 or SQ5 (stop me buying the latter!!)
My RS6 will be here 4 months tomorrow (not counting) but will be a shame to let the RS4 go, i made the suggestion to the wife "sell the SQ5 and she takes the RS4" (did not get the response I was hoping for). She had an B8 S4 avant a few years ago and loved it, no convincing her, so the RS4 will go early July (on holiday for most of July and will use one of my fathers cars in August. RS6 is awesome, i have only driven one once for 30 minutes, i am taking the dealer demo in 2 weeks for a day, will post some photos
