Yep, tried as suggested on the first page. Heat them up then 6 or 7 hard brakes not engaging ABS. Didn't make any difference.

Its been like it since the morning after picking it up.
What did Audi say following pics ?
I'm still awaiting a response on mine

I had heard there'd been a few others, so perhaps audi uk are considering a fix
I believe they had the same problem with the TTRS and RS3, on which they replaced discs, pads and carriers
We'll have to wait and see

Hom, any update on your cars brakes ?
Audi are having my car a few days this week to investigate
I'm not entirely sure why they need it for a few days, but they were very specific on the days that were booked a couple of weeks back and are lending me their rs6/R8 during that time
I'll keep you posted

I just got an update from Audi ;
My front brakes are being replaced as a whole under warranty by Audi
They have ordered New Discs, Pads, Callipers and Carriers that have a new part number (I assume they know there's a fault on the existing ones, so have been superseded)

In the meantime, i'm putting miles on their RS6 instead of my own car, so no complaining here

I'm so happy for you!

1. for the breaks...
2. for the free RS6!

how does it compare? worth the extra 25-30k?

In my mind, no doubt. Completely different proposition. Unfortunately it's more like another 35-40.

I was the same after the first 24hr test drive I had a couple of weeks ago. In fact, was it not for the fact I was saving for a new weekend toy, I'd have specced one up and the dealer and pressed the button there and then
However, I've lived with this one for a few days now and little things are starting to make me wish I was in my RS4 at times
I'll do a better summary next week when I've given it back and had more of a chance to really live with it, but as a snap shot ;
1) It's too big ! The extra width of the rs6 over the regular A6 and over my rs4 makes it hard to park in multi story car parks. At my local Costa (where I 'work' quite a lot), the spaces are pretty narrow and it's on the white lines both sides
As an everyday getting about car, it's way too big for me
It swallows up bikes though as the boot's huge

2) I prefer the look of my RS4, but the colour of the loaner I've got makes it look boring. It looks awesome from some angles, but from the side it looks as long as a barge and I'm not sold on the rear either. Front looks properly aggressive

3) it's bloody fast. I've not compared it against an RS4, but I'm pretty sure it'd leave it for dead on a straight road... And most other cars short of a 911 turbo or GTR
Traction isn't great on cold tyres/roads and sometimes where my rs4 would gun it out a corner, I have to apply a bit of opposite lock in the rs6 and then the traction control shuts everything down with a thump

4) non upgrade stereo is rubbish and I can't find anywhere that tells me how many miles I have to the next fill up or a running mpg rather than an average

5) sounds crap, but I'm sure the sports exhaust option would help sort that

Very comfortable car though and certainly bloody fast

Coming from a C6 I find the 4 small. Christmas tree shopping a good example!

We've got the A1 for shopping, don't stick the 4 in a car park unless I can help it.

The throttle in corners is likely to be down to the flat line torque, no? Power is far more instant in the 6.

The stereo is OK, it's a tin can if you want hifi buy a hifi! The b&o option at 6k is just ridiculous.

The rear is a bit fugly, but I can live with that. Something about a mantlepiece and a fire springs to mind.

Good write ups!

I thought of saving the difference but swmbo put her foot down at the 4! Personally, I think the 6 is a great looking car, especially the front end!

But 30k more...maybe in a few years!

My options were:

RS4
S6
SQ5

Had to go with the 4! Roll on March when it arrives!

Interesting Graeme. My experience of both....6 covers ground without the revvy fuss of the 4. But definitely agree with the size issues; and it's no more fun than my B8 - and I saved 20k+.
