Ride is programmable, and most complain it's too hard, so your tester was probably set up soft.

Shifts can be fully manual or if you'd like a sporty auto, use sport. The transmission gets nothing but praise usually. Your comments sound like you left it in d and if drive select was in comfort again I'm not shocked at the transmission behavior you described.

Sounds like you definitely did need to make a few adjustments. The b8 is quite different. I own a b7 rs4 and a b8 a avant. To me the b8 feels huge. It is after all a full five inches longer than my b7. For perspective the length difference is about the same as the difference between a b5 and a b7. Parked side by side the b5 looks like a toy.
