Basically your saying that because the golf rattles more than the RS
It's acceptable to put up with the knocking on your car?
LOL, I was half expecting that, do you copy everything I post just so you can regurgitate?? weird but hey..I deleted that as I wanted to replace it with whats below....more words for you to take in......

"RIV, let me put it another way so you might get the point I was making. I was simply saying I think mine knocks now and again but it isn't as bad as a Golf which in reality isn't "noisy" per se.

I think may be the UK's roads can be held equally responsible for much of this knocking."

No you are missing the point!! I have aVW T5 for work it drives perfectly with no knocks, that's done 100k
Why should we put up with the DRC knocking, I don't think it's acceptable that Audi say it's a normal trate of the car. If my van did the same I would be getting it looked at.

From what you've said you don't have to :) So the van makes no noise going over bumpy surfaces whatsoever....maybe you are deaf :)

Just throwing this out there, The RS6 I've just had on Air with no DRC knocked a bit. I think I am getting used to this what is normal thing.

Technically if you think about it, something has to absorb the hits, you are asking for a 1700kg thing to hit a pothole with 35 profiles on 20's and just suck it up, with the added complexity of a hydraulic roll bar system.

NOW - before you flame me, I know that there are cars which are knocking more than most - and I know from personal experience with my C5 that you can get faulty DRC which leads to significantly more knocking and that needs to be fixed.

But going back to the Van, we are talking possibly higher flex in the tyres and conventional spongy springs and dampers.

It's like saying because my golf plus doesn't knock the RS4 shouldn't.... erm yeah but I'd never take the Golf around the ring in sub 8 minutes.

Of course then you have mag ride - which will probably not knock!! argh!

At last, sensible comments. Suspension will never be silent. I think you are either tuned into the noise or not.

You've clearly never been in a car with a DRC knock. It's not exactly subtle. It's like someone using a mallet on the inner wheel arch. It is NOT like the noise you'd associate with a pot hole, nor like the noise you'd accept/expect from an old and used cheap vw...

It's like a hollow clunking sound, can be worse driving over very small undulations in the RD
I had my B7's DRC replaced 3 times before I ripped it out for coilovers. If it's bad it can put you off the car tbh

This (on both counts).

It's generally worse on "bumpy" ground as you say - a full on pothole you'd expect a noise from.

It's certainly detracted from the supposedly lovely experience of buying a new car for me :(

I don't blame you for being pissed off, especially after having to take of that lovely exhaust system :audibash:
