Indeed. I'm going to try an E63 to see if I can avoid a ditch finder special.

Just driving the missus' A1 this weekend reminds why AWD is so good. I've been Mr Ratboy wheel spinning all over the gaff. No such issues in the 4 of course.

I had the same thing going through my head when I was looking for a new car. For me the RS4 had more of a legend about it but I am a rallying head so that probably goes back to that. I also couldnt do with the RWD, I need a car for all seasons, not just the summer, I also allow the Mrs to drive my car on occasions so I needed something that was safe for her and the kid. I am also too immature to drive a RWD and would have it bum out all the time. If I want a more exciting drive I can turn the traction off on the RS4 and play, but I havent had the need to do that in my short time of ownership and the pure ability of the car to destroy roads is mind blowing.

On a final Note Jeremy Clarkson has one, so I suppose it depends on whether or not you want to be in HIS club or not

Do what i did and buy both! to me even though there are similarities the cars are very different. Yes noise and straight line performance from the AMG has been mentioned on previous posts, but theres a lot more to both these cars. The RS4 is considerably larger, i can do £1000 cash and carry no problem in the audi and its as sure footed as most cars get, the toys are pretty decent also on it aswell as the build quality being better. The AMG's seats are awesome but the rear view mirror is very awkward to look at, since it feels too close to you.
The gearbox imo is better on the RS4, in manual it shifts faster and less hesitant, and in auto the downs shifts are truly music to my ears :)

I can see your logic to an extent, in the overall scheme of cars, that's two very similar cars to have one of each
I'm between 'other cars' at the mo, but my impending purchase will be very different to my Rs4.
I had a C63 for a few days on loan from Merc before I bought my replacement Rs4, and although the RWD vs 4WD makes the on edge handling quite different, the overall experience is quite similar
Is your 'other car' in use by significant other/different location or you just fancied two 450ps estate cars for options ?
