Why do some cars have 'RS' and others 'RS 4' on the dials?

They don't do anything on non adaptive cruise control

OK, don't light up for normal cruise.

Managed to grab a picture this week to show the dial scale lit up with adaptive cruise engaged. Two triangles light up if the speed is set between the scale increments, a single if set on the speedo increment.
