7000 miles and my buckets look good as new.

Although I do have a love hate relationship - mainly love though

As most say the Buckets are rare, I had been looking for an RS for 4 months waiting for the perfect spec, it never came up! the only option I dropped really was the Buckets, so hard to find a used with Buckets including other bits I wanted.
For the very little miles I cover the Super Sports are great,, don't think it will make much difference when resell if you have a good spec without them,,
I don't think Buckets come with MEM seats if that's something you require
Enjoy the search its great well worth the wait

Buckets FTW
that's why speced my own car at the time there were little to no used cars with buckets but Audi are taking the piss charging over 2k for the buckets as they were a no cost option in the B7
the buckets connect you with the car so much more as the super sports which are better than the old B7 sport seats which were <beep>
the super sports don't give you that support when pushing in the corners when i took a demo for a test drive before buying mine i was sliding in the seat when hitting the corners hard
as for wear on the bolster this is mainly due to fat arses too lazy to lift there backside out of the seat when exiting the car
my B7 bucket seats wear like new when i sold the car with 45k miles on it

but passengers of a certain age will find getting in and out a chore

My tuppence on the pro's and cons (I had buckets in my first B8 and went for the standard SS seats in my second)

* Buckets do certainly look cooler, but the SS seats are also very cool (the difference isn't as large though, like in the B7, and the B8 SS seats are very nice)

* Buckets wear a lot quicker the SS Seats. My last B8 was on nearly 20k miles when I chopped it in for the current one (which is now on 21k) and the Buckets were showing much more signs of wear, whereas the SS seats in my current car look largely brand new

* Buckets are much better on track, as I find myself bracing my weight with the outside of the left leg in the SS seats, whereas I didn't in the buckets

* SS seats give you about two inches more space in the back seats as they're not as deep as the buckets. If you're not sure how important an extra 2 inches is, ask your wife :bigblink:

* If you have less mobile people getting in and out of your car, then SS seats are much easier to get in and out of. I ferry my 78 year old Mother around, and she struggled to get in and out of the car with buckets in it, and booster seats don't sit in buckets if you have young kids like me that like to sit in the front sometimes

* SS seats are electric

Good stuff, I don't think you'll regret it. As others have said, because the buckets in the B8 aren't deemed a 'must have', the car won't feel any less special (as long as you have the full leather) and the SS's really are better than I expected them to be. I'm a very skinny/slim framed person, and I find they are more than capable of holding me in when I push on.

So what spec/car have you gone for in the end? :)

Its a bit far for me tbh, but i am going to see if there is interest in an essex meet. I have awesome location with some great driving available in mind...
