Hatfield.

Just waiting on the call to drive the gts and see how I get on with it. I know I'll like its handling but don't know if the wife can get in it for example (should she ever need to) - two lots of spinal surgery and she struggles with low cars.

Hi Guys,

Returning to the OP's original theme in the first post..........

Had my 63 plate RS4 in the dealers to investigate knock from front driver side shock.

They are telling me this is a characteristic of the DRC.........

Also, I asked them to have a look at my tail pipes as they look like the finish has allowed the metal below to "oxidise". They are telling me the "pitting" (as they describe it - not oxidisation which I think it is) is normal wear and tear.

Can anyone tell me what my best course of action is with Audi or do I just have to accept these pitiful excuses?

Just to note, I bought the car out of the stealer network but clearly well within manufacturers warranty.

Cheers

Ben

if the "pitting" was on the paintwork...is that wear and tear?

Knocking is "normal" according to Audi...

So i took my friend up with his B8 and said it doesn't knock, so is his car abnormal....?

Fight as hard as you wish but it wont be acknowledged....I fitted KW lowering springs and only lowered 15mm, but the noise has reduced massively.

Cant help you with the tailpipes sadly, but try a detailer but theyre silver we sell Milttek metal cleaner.

I've put in an official complaint to Audi UK today. Nothing will come of it of course, as they've got my money as they have yours - it just means that if I don't like the apology I get back I can release myself from the last bit of Audi brand loyalty I have left and move elsewhere...

Have you got a contact you made the complaint to?

If we all complain it might just get enough weight behind it for audi to officially come clean and sort it?

I've complained through the Compliments/Complaints section of their website.

Once (if) I've got a name from that I'll let you know here.

Audi won't do anyhing on mass - they didn't for the B7 and that was 100x more widespread. It's only where there's a risk of a lawsuit (like in the US) when they'll proactively do something. They've got your money now - tough titty. Live with it. :audibash:

Complaint to Audi formulated last night and sent today (2 pages of A4).........will report back with comments from Audi.

For those who want to complain about the DRC noise or tail pipes (sub standard pressed metal inserts in rear bumper) please direct all "fury" to customer.services@audi.co.uk. :audibash:

I stated a few days ago that mine knocked, was regassed and now I think it knocks again. Only once in a while but it knocks. However, I've driven my Wife's Golf a bit recently and that is noisy....not the same but equally as noisy, if not more so.

I choose not to let it bother me and the car handles fine.

My cars perfect!! No knocks
If I wanted a noisy golf I would get one, but I don't expected that from a 70k car

It's acceptable to put up with the knocking on your car?
