Expensive IMO and wear badly (did my B7 anyway). I think I'd have chosen them but I liked the SS seats I test drove and it freed up £2k for options so went that way.miatang wrote:P Exed my B8 S4 recently to a Q7 for the family. Toying the idea of an RS4 now. Looking at the used ones available there doesnt seem to be many with the bucket seats option. Is there a particular reason why? Uncomfortable? Too expensive? Affects resale?

Re: Bucket Seats
Buckets are a must as if you push the car you will start to slide unless you have alcantara centres but RS + buckets a must IMO
i remember coming from the B5 RS4 to the B7 RS4 witch had buckets you felt more connected to the car
i always amazes me how many B8's don't have the buckets compared to the B7

Re: Bucket Seats
Become a real problem on the B7, several were written off last year as uneconomic to repair after the buckets were stolen.Moschop5 wrote:Not too sure on the RS4 B7 version, so cannot comment on that.

Re: Bucket Seats
I had them in my last car but havent got them in this one. I have to say I am glad I don't have them this time. The seats are much more comfortable, loads more room and to be honest the buckets look a bit dated and the black plastic trim always bugged me.

Re: Bucket Seats
I had buckets in my B7 and first B8, but I opted not to have them in my current one
They are a lovely seat, and very comfortable
However, the standard b8 RS seats are very good and look way better than the rather rubbish super sport seats in the B7 - the std ones are just as in keeping with an RS model as the buckets imho
My reason was as follows ;
Buckets wear much worse than the std seats (the bolsters on my first b8 started to show signs of wear by 20k miles
They take up a good couple of inches in the rear (ask your mrs if 2" more makes a difference
)
They're harder to get in and out of for less nimble passengers (think elderly parents etc in my case)
Standard seats are plenty supportive and look nearly as 'sporty'
Saves a few quid (not as much as you'd believe though as I think the buckets are heated as standard, so you can offset that option on the std seats)

Re: Bucket Seats
Not tried the comfy seats but I'd have to go with buckets just for the looks alone. An RS just looks wrong without them.

Re: Bucket Seats
The standard sports seats are quite supportive for a spirited drive, and fits better with the all rounder aspect the of car, in terms of space, comfort, support etc..... The plastic bits also didn't look good on the bucket seats. And the owners' feedback on the wear on the buckets eventually persuaded me to get the sports seats. I did however saw one car with the back of the bucket seats colour coded to the exterior which was very nice.
Re: Bucket Seats
My main attraction to them is the looks. I had the supersports seats in my S4 and they were great. My local dealer is having a used one with bucket seats coming in soon. Its 2012 car so should be a good indicator for wear aswell.
Re: Bucket Seats
I have buckets in the B7 and couldn't see beyond them for the B8. They have made the B8 that wee bit more special because they are rarely specified in the B8
Have to agree that they are quite an expensive option. Well worth it in my opinion, superb seats.

Re: Bucket Seats
The Supersport seats in the B8's are great but if you are coming from an S4 specced with Supersport seats to an RS4 with the same seats there isn't a lot of difference in the cabin. They were on my list of must haves for the S4, but I reckon I'd be more than happy with them in an RS4 too.
Re: Bucket Seats
My local dealer had a b8 with the bucket seats in today. After seeing them I definitely think it's a must now. The car was a 52 plate wit 11k on the clock and there wasn't much wear on them.
