Isn't there a counter for ecu wipes?

First I've heard, the tuning guys I know reckon that nothing can be detected if it's done properly, but I am guessing that it will now log anyone tampering with the ECU? I wonder how long before the boffins figure way around it.
My understanding is BMW and Audi systems both now have separate counters which tracks all ECU 'alterations', including Wipes, uploads etc. So where as previous maps were simply uploaded and all previous settings overwritten, that action now has a 'count' against it, and those counts are inaccessible.

In my very limited driving of my new car,it doesn't lack power but it does lack Torque (as discussed in numerous places). There is an amazing power band high up in the rev range, would be nice to have that a bit lower down. At times the car almost feels like it has Turbo lag, this is of course caused by the kick down delay.

I'm still not at all sure I'm driving the car correctly (I've never had an auto before) so perhaps time will show me a better way to extract the most from the engine :-)
Having only done 200miles in mine since the weekend, I thought similar, then I realised that in anything other than 'dynamic'/Sport, the power is accessed differently. Nailing it when slightly rolling in second gear + Dynamic/Sport gives you instant power, however in 'comfort' the behavior feels like, as you say, turbo lag. I'm still learning how this engine+gearbox combo responds with all the modes, especially as it's my first N/A since 2006, but so far it's been fun finding out.

If there is one thing that is safe to say, it's that it will not be undetectable.
