Pretty sure that last year Autoglym and a few others were ordered to remove their claims that the products protect from Bird crap etching.I'm sceptical if any of the new breed such as Gtechniq will be any better, although Gtechniq have just introduced a dealer only product that claims to be the best of the best.

No no, in their defence, if you follow the directions to the tee, you'll be fine. :biggrin2:

Damn, you are right. I didn't see the "void if taken out of air-conditioned garage" line in the Ts and Cs.

Another go with AG Shampoo, AG Aquawax, AG Paint Restorer, AG Resin Polish, AG Ultra High Shine and finally AG Extra Gloss Protection and it's 90% there....can still be seen at certain angles but rest of the car looks 100% shiny as fook.

I have Gtechniq coatings on my sepang rs4. Paint, wheels and leather are coated.

7 months into car ownership (had the coatings since new) the paint is still perfect, despite occasions of having guano baked on in our high temperature high uv environment here in Dubai.

Also, I don't have any paint swirl marks, these normally appear despite meticulous washing procedures due to the high dust levels on the roads/in the air.

I have also had a couple of door dings from careless people Parking next to the car. On all three occasions the paint was not damaged at all and the dents were able to be corrected through massaging the dent from behind (watching that happen is belief that true artists still exist!!)

I can't recommend gtechniq enough. I'm so convinced in getting it applied to our old landcruiser as well as my wife's new merc.

Had it been on my bonnet for days I'd have expected some marking but it was circa. 3-4 hours. Is it the AutoGlym coat which has been marked or the paint?

No wonder you get the AG pack of goodies when you have LifeShine.....you bloody need them.

In your case I defo think it's the paint that's been marked; I say this because I have zero confidence in the ability of Lifeshine to do anything. The Gtechniq link is prob damage to the coating, but it appears you can't polish the coating off so he's stuffed too!

Put a ceramic coating on to the paintwork before waxing this will help but not 100% guaranteed.

Thanks....a few layers of wax has sorted it but I'll know what to do next time.

I mistakenly left some bird crap on the roof of my black RS4 for a week a month ago. After finally cleaning it off there were severe marks, actually depressions in the paint. However, after a couple of weeks in the sun they have completely disappeared. I did see somewhere that it's heat that causes the marks rather than etching as the paint adjusts to fit the hardened bird crap, so it seems that the reverse process also works.

Your mileage may vary, but it's worth giving it a careful clean and leaving in the sun for a while before trying anything else.

Edit:
Just checked and was AutoGlym that said about the heat effect:

Incidentally, mine was AutoGlym treated when I bought it.

Mine has the Williams ceramic coat,so far it's been excellent!! I'm having a 2 day detail done next week, and the ceramic coat reapplied to body and wheels, just to keep it mint.
This is the only type of bird that goes near my car, ceramic coat they love it :bigblink:

Bird poo is a bugger - but it's actually alkaline...
