Yep, saw that. £50k to my spec = £12k off. Gonna call to see why it's too good to be true.

I guess it all depends on the dealer. I have never placed more that 250 at my dealer and I wasnt pushed hard even for that. Additionally they clearely stated to me 'we dont keep customer deposits' and I have been witness to them returning full deposit.
I wasnt asked for any deposit for my 'bespoke' car although its not too radical!.

Shop around - I am just lucky to be near a great dealership within the sinclair group i guess.
B8 RS4 - Daytona, Privacy Glass, Convenience pack, B&O, Pan roof, Parking advanced,Hill Hold, Heated seats.
Audi Q7 Sline plus - Daytona, Tech Pack hi, Storage pack/Towing equip.
Past - 911 C4S (997), S5, S3, TT 3.2, B7 RS4, B6 S4, Boxster, '83 911SC, Corrado G60

I've had two dealers ask for 10%, which there isn't a chance there getting!
+1 - deposits are quite a grey area at times.
In theory, depending on the terms and conditions defined on the contract of sale most deposits are non-refundable. But as on another post, this is largely based on the car/spec/dealer.
For example, ordering a pink RS4 might require a much larger deposit than a black one.

There are some rules as it is a contract so applies conditions on both parties.
So if the price or specification changes or if there is a significant change in delivery date then the supplying dealer can be considered in breach so you have the option for a full refund of the deposit.
Generally speaking though, I've never found a dealer to enforce a deposit on a new car only on second hand ones.

I have a useless dealer local to me…I am trying Broadspeed but it does seem too good to be true - 62k spec for £53k confirmed…….

Re: deposit. I've had 3 cars from the local dealer and yet they still want 10%…..maybe that's Karma saying don't do it.

Broadsheet only show the discount they last achieved, not what they can get you.
That big discount might have been a cancelled order of a yellow car hence the discount. Expect closer to £9k-£10k.

Broadspeed came back to me and can do £52k for £62k spec car. I've run that past a couple of dealers each said they would match it…..awaiting 100% confirmation.

Broadspeed deal is good, especially if you have cash to buy, where the dealers come back is with the finance rate, especially as this is generally garuanteed as part of the offer. I looked at both, and saved c.£50 pm going dealer finance, and got the sense of security of using a franchised dealer. Swings and roundabouts really...and depends what type of buyer you are...

Incidently, i got asked for a £1500 deposit, however this can be transferred/refunded if the car isnt delivered in line with the current offer (delivery by 31st March).

Pretty sure Broadspeed is owned by Inchcape, who in turn own about 10 Audi dealers, so they are pretty kosher.I'd imagine the deal is dependant on you taking the finance.

Believe Broadspeed works the same way as Drive The Deal used to, where you don't pay Broadspeed anything or order through them, they merely put you in touch with the dealer that is willing to do the cheapest deal (ie the least margin)

It's exactly that.

Order placed. £53k for £63k spec. including GAP and Autoglym (£1200 RRP). Might not be the best deal in the world but I am happy….. :)

Gap will be £200 from direct gap and autoglym is pointless. Save yourself some cash.
