Bit of an update:

Took it to the dealers yesterday since it was still squeaking. We went out on a testdrive so they had some idea what it was like, and they took it in for a couple of hours to clean and recoat the the brakes. Driving home was ok with only a tiny noise barely audible, but its back again this morning :(

Called the dealer again after having recorded the noise and they are having to push the issue onto Audi now. No solutions or timelines just them mentioning the RS3 and how it suffered from similar problems.

Not happy. Its bloody annoying getting stuck in traffic and listening to that noise all the time

All you have to do is wait circa. 2 years and they'll sort it :) (a la RS3/TTRS) I had news disks and pads in the meantime which made no difference.

It sounds as if the pads are glazing. Have you got them really hit at any time?

It did, hence I left the car at Audi and told them not to call me until it gets sorted. It never got fixed so they traded it for a new S5 instead.

If you've overheated them then yeah, they'll never come back.
Was it open pitlane? How long do you run? Any mid session cool down laps?

Yeah 8 laps driven hard would be quite stressful.
Unless you have something quite exotic or very light, 8 laps will kill a road cars brakes.
It amazing how few laps it takes to overwhelm most brakes. Discs are usual (but not always) ok but any road pad (or even fast road) simply doesn't have the ceramic content to take consistent temperatures. Ironically if you look at endurance racing pads, they can't take the same peak temp but cope with a higher average.
With something the size of a normal road car (so circa 1600kgs) I don't think more than 8 track miles without a breather is probably going to cause trouble.

Still - if you re gonna kill brake pads donnington isn't a bad place to do it (as long as you make the final chicane - the pit wall is a car killer there). If you want to know if you have a car setup 'just so' craners is an ideal test.

He he - I also have a soft spot for donnigton... The fastest I've been round it (unfortunately not driving) is sub 1 minute.

This is the terrible sound of mine today

Going into Audi tomorrow to hopefully get sorted
If no warranty fix available, then I'm going for Feroda ds2500's next time

On a separate issue, this is the result of a pothole induced puncture today :(
